That is the opportunity.” Rajeev reinforces this idea: “Sustainability goes beyond compliance; it’s about embedding stewardship into your business strategy. True leadership creates long-term value.” Together, they discuss how businesses can rise above the noise by delivering more than just the expected, thus creating a unique differentiator that positions sustainability as a major growth driver. 🔑 Tune in to discover why innovation in the private sector is essential for addressing the climate crisis and how a supportive culture can cultivate groundbreaking ideas. In light of rising anti-woke sentiment, HR leaders committed to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles face a challenging landscape. 🌍 Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives are increasingly under scrutiny, leading some organizations like Microsoft and Zoom to scale back or eliminate their DEI teams, raising doubts about the relevance of these efforts. To counter this trend, Senior VP Sunil Puri and Assistant Manager Abigail Chan from our Research and Engagement team have explored how HR can reposition itself as a strategic partner crucial to driving business success and sustainability. Through insightful interviews with 20 business leaders in Singapore, 3 key strategies emerged: 🔄 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗥'𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲: Shift from a reactive function to a proactive force in shaping organisational strategy. 🤝 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲: Foster a culture where inclusivity and environmental responsibility are seen as interconnected. 💬 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Ensure DEI values are deeply embedded in the organisation, rather than just superficial slogans. By embracing these strategies, HR can solidify DEI and sustainability initiatives as vital components of corporate identity, helping to withstand the current backlash and reaffirming their value to stakeholders and society.
