About us
PCX is accelerating the transition to a circular economy and building a future where no plastic ends up in nature. The origin story of PCX begins as a non-profit in one of the epicenters of the plastic pollution crisis, the Philippines, with the mission to take responsibility for plastic waste. Today, there are two entities: The non-profit organization PCX Solutions was the first in the world to establish a fully transparent, third-party audited Plastic Pollution Reduction Standard to ensure the impact and responsibility of plastic waste projects. It works closely with organizations on the ground, the corporate sector to understand its plastic footprint and to establish ambitious reduction plans, and with governments and the wider ecosystem to boldly tackle the plastic issue both upstream and downstream. PCX Markets is the world's only fully transparent global marketplace for audited plastic waste reduction that provides seamless and traceable solutions to take responsibility for post-consumer plastics. It is addressing the plastic waste problem by activating an ecosystem of partners who collect, track, monetize, and repurpose plastic, verified through the power of blockchain technology while supporting communities on the ground with programs that improve livelihoods, scale up social impact, and reduce the flow of plastic pollution into nature.

Last Friday, I had the privilege of representing PCX in a talk on plastic pollution and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in the Philippines. It was a rewarding experience to conduct a workshop alongside Kath Fruelda, EPR and Compliance Officer from our sister organization, PCX Solutions. Grateful to the CTFAP (Cosmetics, Toiletries, and Fragrances Association of the Philippines) for organizing this event. The expertise shared by Mr. Rolando Enoc of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-EMB), along with Mr. Christopher (Chris) Ferareza and Mr. Lucky "L" Cimatu of P&A Grant Thornton was crucial and added immense value. Appreciation also goes out to all the attendees and companies actively contributing to the fight against plastic pollution, and congrats to Niccia L. Kudos to Caitlin Nina Punzalan and the team at Mondelēz International in the Philippines for sponsoring two new sites run by The Aling Tindera waste to cash program. Aling Tindera, a flagship initiative by HOPE: Business for Good, transforms women micro-entrepreneurs, primarily those running small “sari-sari” stores, into sustainability leaders. The program equips these women with the necessary infrastructure to purchase and collect plastic waste from their communities. One of the challenges in plastic waste management is the lack of infrastructure for segregation and recycling or upcycling in communities. Through the Aling Tindera program, Mondelēz International supports more community-based collection and income generation for these women. We are excited to deepen our partnership with Mondelez Philippines, a trailblazer in plastic responsibility, through this project. https://hubs.ly/Q02Lp2Fm0
