🌐 Honoured to Contribute at IWN 2024 🌐 We're grateful to share that our collaborative teams from the National GaN Technology Centre (NGTC) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) came together with a good presence at the International Workshop on Nitride Semiconductors (IWN 2024). Representing our team with four oral presentations and one poster, we showcased key developments in GaN technology. Our presentations highlighted advancements such as: 🔹Low-Voltage AlN/GaN/AlGaN-on-Si MISHEMT with Record Pout of 1.7 W/mm at 6V and 30GHz 🔹First Demonstration of Schottky Barrier Diodes in Multi-Channel AlN/GaN Heterostructures 🔹Analysis of Leakage Channel with Different Al Composition Back-Barrier in AlN/GaN High Electron Mobility Transistors on Si 🔹Characterisation of Deep Region Trapping Effects in AlN/GaN HEMTs with an AlGaN Back Barrier Utilising Tri-State Pulsed IV Technique 🔹First Demonstration of GaN-on-Si HEMT for D-Band Power Amplification IWN 2024 provided an opportunity for meaningful engagement with global experts, offering insights and exploring perspectives that align with our goal of advancing industries like telecommunications through GaN applications. Established in 2023, Nation Gallium Nitride Technology Centre (NGTC) is a partnership between Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), DSO National Laboratories (DSO) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). NGTC aims to become a catalyst for GaN technologies in future communications and enhances Singapore’s global competitiveness in the RF-mmWave semiconductor industry. NGTC will function as a shared resource and translational hub for R&D and small volume manufacturing. Additionally, NGTC will also contribute to nurturing talents through initiatives such as attachments and internships.

✨ An Honourable Visit from Professor Huili Grace Xing! ✨ We were thrilled to host Professor Huili Grace Xing from Cornell University, who shared invaluable insights with us in her talk: "Insulator or Semiconductor? Lessons Learned from Wide Bandgap Semiconductors". The seminar provided an in-depth look into the advancements of wide bandgap semiconductors (WBGS), and how this technology is shaping the future of LEDs, power electronics, and DUV emitters. Professor Xing's expertise, especially in polarization doping and her pioneering work on distributed polarization doping (DPD), has truly opened our minds to new possibilities within semiconductor engineering. It was a privilege to learn from one of the leading figures in semiconductor research. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Professor Xing for her enlightening presentation and for making such a complex topic accessible to all attendees. 🌟 Groundbreaking Seminar on GaN HEMT Technology with Professor Akio Wakejima! 🌟 On 24th September 2024, we had the honour of hosting Prof. Akio Wakejima from Kumamoto University, who shared invaluable insights into Gated-anode Diode using AlGaN/GaN HEMT for rectification in microwave wireless power transfer. Professor Wakejima's seminar highlighted the incredible 90% power conversion efficiency achieved through GaN HEMT technology and his collaboration with JAXA for wireless power transfer on the Luna. Beyond power transfer, Professor Wakejima also delved into thermal management solutions for GaN HEMTs, highlighting the use of graphite carbon to tackle high-power device heat challenges. This seminar was a fantastic opportunity for participants to gain insight into the future of power conversion, semiconductor innovations, and wireless technology.
