The talk on ‘Navigating the Ethical, Regulatory, and Business Landscape of AI’ left us with so many valuable takeaways from each of the speakers. It was an eye-opening experience that deepened our understanding of AI’s global impact and what it means for us locally. Lai Ling Tong gave us an in-depth look into the EU AI Act 2024, providing clarity on how regulations in the EU are shaping the ethical implementation of AI. She explained how specific provisions are designed to limit certain AI functionalities, ensuring technology remains within ethical boundaries. This discussion really made us think about how global regulations can influence practices here in Malaysia. Ming Wang Lim brought the business perspective to life with his experience in venture capital and expanding companies. He shared incredible insights into how AI is being adopted worldwide and how we can apply those lessons locally. His focus on automating mundane tasks to streamline business operations was inspiring, especially when considering how this can give us a competitive edge. Foong Cheng Leong opened our eyes to the cybersecurity challenges that accompany large AI projects. His passion for elevating Malaysia’s standards to match international heavyweights like Singapore and China was clear. He made it evident that to remain competitive, we need to prioritize security and aim for world-class practices. Throughout the session, Thulasy Suppiah from the Law Office of Suppiah stood out as a skilled moderator. Whenever discussions became complex, she asked the right questions, ensuring we dove deeper into the topics and understood the critical points. Her ability to keep the conversation engaging made the entire talk more insightful and accessible. We left the session with a much clearer understanding of how AI’s ethical, regulatory, and business implications are shaping the future. Each speaker provided a new perspective, helping us see where AI is headed and how we can navigate this evolving landscape responsibly. I’m excited to see how we’ll all take these lessons and apply them to our own ventures moving forward!
