Continuing our three-part series, we spotlight our Singapore Tourism Awards 2024 finalists for Customer Service Excellence (Retail), Lina Jiang, who is often lauded by colleagues and guests alike for her exemplary customer service. A dedicated Senior Guest Service Agent, Lina’s unwavering commitment to excellence shines through every interaction, serving as an inspiring role-model for the team. With over a year of distinguished service and a remarkable track record of winning awards for her outstanding performance, Lina embodies the spirit of exceptional service. “Understanding a guest’s needs goes beyond answering their questions. It is about anticipating their needs and resolving issues in a calm and composed demeanour,” Lina explains. Whether addressing guest concerns or resolving complex issues, she remains composed, always focusing on finding a solution. Most recently, a foreign guest left his mobile phone in a taxi and approached Lina for assistance. She called the taxi company multiple times through the day, and eventually managed to reach the taxi driver, who agreed to return to Marina Bay Sands and pass the phone to the guest. Conscious that it had been an anxious and long wait for the guest, she advised him to rest at a café in comfort and return to the concierge at a certain time to collect his phone. Lina’s drive to deliver above and beyond stems from her belief that great service is not just a professional duty but a personal commitment to making a difference in guests’ lives. As she puts it, “Great service is not just about solving problems. It is about making the whole experience positive and memorable for all guests.” #MarinaBaySands #SingaporeTourismAwards

The spirit of giving continues to grow stronger at Marina Bay Sands. This past weekend, we concluded the 10th edition of the Sands for Singapore Charity Festival, during which we raised close to S$4.6 million for local charities. Since 2013, our Festival has helped to bring in over S$39 million, making a significant impact on our community through our corporate social responsibility programme, Sands Cares. This year’s Festival, themed Where Hearts Come Together, was marked by 10 weeks of community engagement activities and innovative fundraising efforts that culminated in a vibrant three-day event at the Event Plaza. More than 4,000 dedicated Team Members contributed over 6,600 volunteer hours to a variety of causes, from supporting persons with disabilities to empowering disadvantaged women and donating toys to children with cancer. The Festival was a lively celebration, featuring performances from beloved homegrown musicians including Glenn Yong, Ben Hum, and shazza, alongside inspiring acts by beneficiaries such as Redeafination, MINDS, and ART:DIS. From the bustling Giving Marketplace to the gourmet offerings by our signature restaurants, the community came together to give back in meaningful ways. “Our Sands for Singapore Charity Festival has marked a milestone decade of contributions and it is heartening to see how far we have come since its early days. The Charity Festival is testament to the power and strength of unity, when we band together to create a lasting impact in the community,” said Paul Town, Chief Operating Officer, Marina Bay Sands. #SandsforSingapore #SandsCares #CSR

In the lead-up to Sands for Singapore Charity Festival this weekend, we launched Scoops of Hope, an ice-cream pop-up featuring 10 delectable flavours, crafted by Marina Bay Sands’ pastry team and celebrity chef restaurants Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, CUT by Wolfgang Puck, Maison Boulud and Waku Ghin. First launched in 2015, the popular pop-up returns this year with all proceeds going to Metta Café, supporting its mission of providing vocational training for Metta School graduates with mild intellectual disabilities. Felicia Wee, Deputy Executive Director at Metta Welfare Association, said: “We are deeply grateful for the support that Marina Bay Sands has given us through the years, not just through funding but also in providing meaningful employment opportunities for our graduates. We are excited to partner with Marina Bay Sands once again for Scoops of Hope as the funds raised through this creative initiative will be instrumental in supporting and enhancing our vocational training programmes and resources at Metta Café.” Located at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, Level B2 (near Bacha Coffee), the pop-up will run for 10 days till 25 Aug. #SandsForSingapore #SandsCares #CSR

In a new three-part series, we celebrate Team Members across our Hotel, Dining and Retail departments, who were nominated for the recently concluded Singapore Tourism Awards (STA) 2024. The STA recognises individuals in the tourism sector who demonstrate exceptional commitment to providing top-notch service and delivering unforgettable memories to guests. Christian Alejar, one of the STA 2024 finalists for Customer Service Excellence (Food and Beverage), exemplifies this with his high attention to detail and personalised service. As an Assistant Manager at RISE Restaurant, Christian aims to create special moments for every guest. Over his 12 years of service, he has learned to discern different types of guests and offer a personalised touch to every interaction. “RISE sees a constant stream of international guests who may be visiting Singapore for the first time. I love to take that opportunity to share about the beauty of Singapore to such guests through stories and personal experiences, as I hope that they will see the city and Marina Bay Sands as a location worth visiting repeatedly,” he said. With his background as a vegan restaurant owner, Christian knows firsthand the challenge many guests face when searching for dining options that accommodate special requests. His empathy and attentiveness resonate with diners who praise him for going the extra mile. When a family of five arrived at the breakfast buffet and informed RISE of their children’s numerous allergies, the chefs were unable to prepare made-to-order dishes due to peak service timing. Christian went the extra mile to call various restaurants on property to arrange for suitable dishes and personally collected each dish to ensure that they met the dietary restrictions. Christian credits his team for supporting them throughout his journey at RISE. He says: “Whenever I receive compliments from guests, I will always relay the good news to my team because they are the backbone of RISE. Without the team, I would not be here today.” #MarinaBaySands #SingaporeTourismAwards

Marina Bay Sands embarked on a property-wide toy donation drive two weeks ago, a first in our integrated resort’s history. Through this heartwarming mission, our Team Members came together to donate over 1,300 new toys, games and electronic devices as a simple gesture to encourage young patients with cancer. Partnering with LOVE, NILS, a non-profit organisation devoted to empowering children with cancer and their caregivers, these gifts were thoughtfully packed at Sands Expo & Convention Centre and delivered to paediatric cancer wards and clinics of three hospitals across Singapore. This toy donation drive is one of the many highlights of the Sands for Singapore Charity Festival, the flagship event of our corporate social responsibility programme, Sands Cares. Celebrating its tenth edition this year, the festivities continue with Scoops of Hope, a 10-day gourmet ice cream pop-up launching on 16 August, as well as a three-day Charity Festival at the Event Plaza from 23 to 25 August. #SandsforSingapore #SandsCares #CSR
