About us

The Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP) is the HR professional body, set up by the tripartite partners: the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF). IHRP is the only HR professional body in Singapore authorised to implement the national HR credentials, which is known as the IHRP Certification. IHRP has the goal of setting the HR standards of excellence and enabling human capital development in enterprises. Through the IHRP Certification, IHRP aims to enhance the competencies of HR professionals, as well as create developmental and professional pathways for them. This will professionalise and strengthen the HR profession practice in Singapore, allowing HR professionals to be key enablers in their organisations. Our 15-member board of directors come from diverse backgrounds. The Chairperson is Mrs Deborah Ong, Retired Partner, PwC Singapore. Why IHRP? Against the backdrop of rapid business disruption, it is essential that organisations develop their human capital, so they can be future-ready and thrive amid economic shifts. HR is the enabler that will help organisations rise to meet this challenge. But for it to be successful, HR must itself be future-ready. It must focus on maximising human capital and contribute to business growth. IHRP aims to equip HR professionals and their organisations with progressive and forward-looking people practices to meet this challenge.

  • Partnering with B Capital , Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP) hosted an exclusive fireside chat that sparked a thought-provoking discussion on human capital practices and workforce agility. We were privileged to have Yit Foon Chan (IHRP-MP and Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Marina Bay Sands) and Iwan de Leeuw (Global Organization Design Leader, ABB) sharing their perspectives and experiences, with BCG X's Interim Head of Talent Swarnima Korde moderating the session. The dialogue begun with a look at flexible work models and their strategic implementation. Iwan emphasised that organisations must prioritise culture-building through trust and transparency, noting that flexibility is instrumental in achieving business objectives. He stressed the importance of change management and ensuring employee buy-in throughout the transformation process. Yit Foon highlighted the delicate balance between employee preferences and employer requirements, explaining that flexibility extends beyond remote work policies. She emphasised that the Tripartite Guidelines on Flexible Work Arrangement Requests provide a crucial framework for establishing parameters and timelines. Additionally, she pointed out that implementing flexible arrangements necessitates a comprehensive redesign of workflows and processes, making workforce upskilling an indispensable element of the transformation journey. On the topic of talent management, our panellists delved into strategies for understanding and meeting evolving workforce needs, underscoring the importance of creating a symbiotic relationship between employee satisfaction and business objectives, highlighting how organisations can align them to drive sustainable growth. • Job redesign is more than just restructuring tasks – it shapes roles that align with business needs while supporting employees’ personal priorities. When roles reflect what matters to both the organisation and its people, the result is a healthier, more engaged workforce. A study by MIT Sloan found that employees involved in job redesign efforts experienced a 40% reduction in turnover over three years. This is because redesigned roles can help to foster work-life balance, protect well-being, and offer employees more meaningful ways to contribute. With greater flexibility and roles that align with their values, employees feel empowered, valued, and more committed to their workplace. HR plays a vital role in guiding these transitions, ensuring that changes are well communicated and employees are supported through the process. When employees thrive, organisations gain long-term stability and resilience. ➡️ To explore how job redesign can transform your workplace, download the Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP) Job Redesign Playbook for Human Resources here: https://bit.ly/IHRPjrhr (If the link does not open, try using a mobile browser.)
