We will invest €150 million in a new state-of-the-art facility that will be up and running by 2027. “This new facility will help fuel Edwards’ growth and innovation strategy by strengthening our global supply chain network and our ability to deliver our structural heart therapies, impacting even more patients around the globe,” said Edwards CEO Bernard Zovighian.

Developed in the late 1950s by engineer and inventor Miles "Lowell" Edwards and surgeon Dr. Albert Starr, the Starr-Edwards valve was successfully implanted by Dr. Starr for the first time 64 years ago today. The Starr-Edwards valve marked the beginning of the modern era of heart valve disease treatment, laying the groundwork for numerous advancements in both mechanical and tissue replacement heart valves.
