About us
Oceans, seas, lakes and rivers offer growing possibilities in the areas of trade, food, energy and recreation. To ensure global prosperity for next generations and keep the earth habitable with an ever-increasing population, it is essential to utilise and protect these possibilities as efficiently and responsibly as possible. Damen provides unprecedented maritime solutions for this, through design, shipbuilding, ship repair and related services. We offer versatile platforms that enable our customers to be successful and that raise the standard in terms of safety, reliability, efficiency and sustainability. We want to become the most sustainable shipbuilders in the world. In the previous century, we revolutionized shipbuilding. Thanks to standardisation, we were able to supply our customers with better ships, faster. More than 90 years and 6,500 ships later, the importance of standardisation is only increasing in the light of zero-emissions and digitalisation. We do not build our ships alone, but together with an extensive network from the international maritime cluster. We firmly believe in the power of sharing. It means that we also use our craftsmanship to build platforms on production facilities that are not ours. In this way, through knowledge transfer, we not only contribute to better, safer and more eco-friendly ships, but also to sustainable local development and prosperity. We are a family owned business and stand for fellowship, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship and stewardship. Our playing field is the world. Our horizon is the long term. We firmly believe in our team, but also in the strength of the individual. Each colleague is an entrepreneur, focused on ensuring truly satisfied clients and making our contribution to a better world. In every aspect of our business the next generation is our starting point.

Reaping the rewards of commonality. The Ferries 3508 operation in Penang offer a wide-range boost to efficiency. The standard design of the four vessels allows for increased redundancy, ease of maintenance, straightforward crew training and low OPEX. #Damen #maritime #shipbuilding #ferry

Sustainable tugs heading this way! Last week our Chairman, Kommer Damen, together with Damen Song Cam Shipyard Yard Director Joris van Tienen, were on hand to witness the loading of a number of tugs to a heavy lift vessel in Vietnam. The tugs were built at the Vietnamese yard and are bound for Europe, where they are expected to arrive in the coming weeks. Included in the shipment were six RSD Tugs 2513 – including one fully electric RSD-E Tug 2513 – for the Port of Antwerp-Bruges. Also on board is a second fully electric RSD Tug, which will play a role in advancing maritime sustainability as part of the Damen Marine Services fleet. #Damen #tugs #maritimeindustry

Giving a leg up to a Jack-up! Recently we successfully completed repairs on the jack-up rig Noble Regina Allen, owned by Noble Corporation. This project involved removing and replacing damaged bracings, welding cracks, and installing a new leg section. Our team met the deadline by lifting the entire 22,000-tonne rig using Mammoet's Mega Jack lifting system to raise the rig to an exceptional height of 34 meters, which is equivalent to lifting around 14,000 passenger cars! This project was a joint effort with Noble Corporation, Damen Shiprepair, Mammoet and Friede & Goldman, Ltd., showcasing our expertise and teamwork. She might be small, but she’s got it where it counts! The ASD Tug 1810 is a lesson in efficiency. The sheltered positioning of a single winch in the deckhouse provides safe towage fore and aft. It’s also a contributing factor to the spacious, uncluttered deck that makes the tug such a great place to work. #Damen #tugs #shipbuilding

The journey begins. ⚓ Seen here are a Damen Multi Cat (MuC) 1205 and a Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) 500 setting out on the first leg of their journey to their owner G E M H Y SERVICES L.L.C. based in Dubai and they acquired the marine spread and equipment for their project in Algeria. During this first stage, the vessels will travel from the Damen Dredging yard in Nijkerk to Rotterdam. The CSD500 draws on generations of Dutch experience in dredging and water management to deliver a reliable, powerful performance. The MuC, meanwhile provides flexible dredge support, contributing a significant boost to both safety and efficiency. Both vessels are tailored versions of proven designs built for stock – ensuring the fastest possible delivery times. Stay tuned for more info updates as their journey continues! #Damen #dredging #transport

New arrival on duty! Pictured here is Sri Lanka Shipping Company Limited's recently delivered ASD Tug 2312 Capricorn at work in Colombo Port. The company, a subsidiary of the Advantis Group, the transportation and logistics arm of Hayleys PLC, took delivery of the vessel together with her sister, named Aquarius. The new tugs are the first Damen vessels in the company’s fleet. The ASD Tug 2312 is a compact vessel offering 70 tonnes of bollard pull, together with outstanding manoeuvrability and course keeping capabilities. #Damen #tugs #shipbuilding

Strong. Straightforward. Standard. Our brand-new Shrimp Trawler 2607 is a no-nonsense kind of boat. Its robust design aims at increased efficiency in the fishing of (sub)tropical shrimp. The vessel prioritises safety and sea and ensures low levels of easy maintenance. It’s economical, too, with a firm focus on low fuel consumption. #Damen #fishing #shrimptrawler #shipbuilding

One spark is all it takes ✨ And we’re off! We recently cut first steel on the first two in a series of four fully electric ferries for BC Ferries in Canada. The zero emissions Island Class Ferries are based on the Damen RoRo 8117 Electric. They will transport up to 390 passengers and 47 vehicles. As total solutions provider, we are also delivering the charging towers at which the ferries will recharge during (dis)embarkation using renewable electricity. Together with the existing six hybrid versions, the ferries will play an important role in sustainably connecting communities in British Columbia. #Damen #ferries #sustainability #electric

Seeking synergy. Today we had the pleasure, together with idD Portugal Defence, of hosting an Industry Day at our HQ in Gorinchem. The event was attended by representatives of the Portuguese authorities, military and industry. Together we explored the synergies that exist between our organisations and considered ways to further integrate the Portuguese defence industry into the global naval value chain. At the present time, such sharing #defence of knowledge of technology is of great strategic importance, not only to Damen, the Portuguese Navy and Portuguese companies, but also to the wider collective defence and economic eco-system. #Damen #knowledgesharing #defence
