This week marks a significant milestone for clean energy and decarbonization research in Singapore. On Monday, National Research Foundation Singapore (NRF) launched a new S$90 million #CREATE Thematic Programme on Decarbonisation. This initiative aims to enhance Singapore's capabilities in hydrogen utilization and develop non-fossil fuel-based pathways for sustainable aviation fuel and high-value chemicals. During the event, Professor Chorh Chuan Tan, Permanent Secretary of National Research Development, visited our booth and the startups from Cambridge CARES. Thursday saw the official opening of the Centre for Hydrogen Innovations (#CHI) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), in partnership with Temasek. CHI's goal is to create breakthrough technologies to make hydrogen commercially viable as a green energy source. In his speech, Dr. Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, highlighted Singapore's strong interest in #ammonia as a hydrogen carrier for power generation and bunkering on #Jurong Island. As a spin-off from the #CREATE program, 3Y Energy will continue its close collaboration with these decarbonization research projects, bringing cutting-edge solutions to industry and our everyday life. #decarbonization #hydrogen #ammonia #innovation

Last week, 3Y Energy was invited to attend the Shell StartUp Engine Singapore #FastTrack event. During the event, we gained valuable insights into the green fuel ecosystem and supply chain. For biofuels, #traceability and #compatibility present significant challenges, considering the wide variety of feedstocks. Regarding #traceability, the entire life cycle of biofuels needs to be tracked and verified to ensure they are truly 'green'. As for #compatibility, we need to understand their physicochemical properties when blended with different base fuels such as diesel, marine oils, and jet fuel, as well as their combustion and emission characteristics in various engine types. This represents a huge market opportunity, and we're striving to ensure our technology can effectively address these challenges. Many thanks to Ricardo Costa, Ong Lay Hwa, Helen lim and all experts from Shell, Startupbootcamp and local ecosystems, for the valuable feedback and connections! ##### #Shell StartUp Engine is a global accelerator programme intended to equip startups with the skills, connections and industry insights needed to maximise their chances of success by linking them to mentors and global experts from Shell. #FastTrack is an invite-only, fast-paced event to connect high potential startups with experts from Shell, Startupbootcamp and local ecosystems. #Biofuels #Sustainability #Decarbonization #Energy

This week, our team had the pleasure of enjoying a coffee at MAN Energy Solutions, surrounded by marine engines parts undergoing servicing and retrofitting.   MAN Energy Solutions, the world’s leading two-stroke engine producer, recently opened its new mixed-purpose facility in Tuas, making #Singapore its largest service hub outside of Europe.   During our visit, we discussed various #alternative fuels and the #retrofitting processes needed to enable existing engines to adopt these green fuels. Notably, MAN ES plans to deliver its first-ever #ammonia-fueled engine by late 2024, marking a significant milestone in the transition to ammonia as a fuel for vessels.   Thanks again, Adrian Shakib, for the warm invitation! We look forward to our future meetings! #Ammonia#Sustainability#Decarbonization#Maritime

This week, our team had the exciting opportunity to visit the world's first #ammonia-powered vessel, the Fortescue Green Pioneer, at the Port of Singapore. The vessel features two four-stroke engines that have been retrofitted for dual-fuel combustion of ammonia. Over the past few months, the Green Pioneer team has successfully conducted ammonia bunkering practice and engine sea trial, with the support from Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). Both teams engaged in insightful discussions about fuel safety, engine retrofitting, and emission control. At 3Y Energy, we view the Green Pioneer as a groundbreaking step towards adopting ammonia in the maritime industry and a significant push towards transitioning to carbon-free fuels globally. A big thank you Andrew Hoare and Chun Meng Joey Ng for the warm invitation! We look forward to our collaborations! #Ammonia #Sustainability #Decarbonization #Maritime
