Mar 26, 2020 · Bernstein’s drag racing career began when he wheeled both Top Fuel and Funny Car entries throughout the Southwest in the 60s as a young man. He pushed his passion to the side in the spring of 1973 for reasons that seemed blatantly obvious to him at the time.
Two years later, in 1990, Bernstein switched from funny car to top fuel and in 1996 won the NHRA Top Fuel World Championship. In 1994 driver Scott Goodyear won Bernstein his first Indy Car race, making him the first car owner to win races in Indy Car, NASCAR, and NHRA.
