How can we build bridges and bring #water into global processes? To get the answers, we met Meike van Ginneken, Dutch Special Envoy for Water 💧 “We must always fight for a seat at the table. We need to create an understanding that water and climate should not be seen as separate”, says van Ginneken. Hurrah! Mostly celebrating because I had the chance to use this superlative picture, (not taken by me), of the magnificent Crossness sewage pumping station in South London. On-site recording with Mike Jones was a real joy and an apt start to my Business Daily programme on highlighting some solutions to a range of global water issues... Big thanks to my inspiring interviewees and their fantastic contributions - I'm talking about you... José Castro Anita Sangalo and Marketa Steflova
🌍💧 How can we promote #water and #climate resilience in conflict situations? Nkateko Nicole Langa, #JuniorRapporteur for World Water Week 2024, explores this issue and reflects on the “Water and Armed Conflict” SIWI Seminar. During the session, experts like Sandra Ruckstuhl (IWMI), Shambavi Priyam (World Bank), and Callist Tindimugaya (Uganda’s Ministry of Water and Environment) discussed the severe economic and human health impacts of disrupted water systems in conflict zones. 💡 Key takeaway: Long-term strategies, not short-term aid, are vital for building #resilience and #sustainability. As Andrew Harper (UNHCR) put it, “You cannot manage water crises in conflict zones with humanitarian responses alone.” Read the full article ↪️ https://lnkd.in/dY3ehUFt
