We're proud to share some exciting milestones in our journey towards a fossil-free future. Like how we’ve made significant progress in using fossil-free steel in our products. As early as November 2022, Volvo Trucks began delivering electric trucks made with fossil-free steel to customers. In 2023, Volvo Construction Equipment delivered the A30G articulated hauler made of fossil-free steel to customers in Europe and the U.S. – all world firsts. And starting next year, Volvo Trucks will increase the use of low-CO2 steel. This steel, produced with recycled material and fossil-free energy, will be used in tens of thousands of Volvo trucks in all powertrains. “Steel is a big contributor to the footprint of our products and working together with both established and new players for developing decarbonized materials is key to advancing our progress in sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions”, says Andrea Fuder, Chief Purchasing Officer of Volvo Group.

We are saying goodbye to #ClimateWeekNYC after what has been an energizing and productive week of discussions. It has been a clear reminder of the vital role we play both in terms of the industry as well as society as whole – and it is a role we take seriously – to take action against climate change through innovative collaboration. Some of our highlights included: ➡️ Participating in the UN Summit of the Future Action days focused on partnership and action on how digital technologies and game-changing solutions can lay the groundwork for a more sustainable, inclusive, and responsible future. ➡️ Several of roundtables with high-level public officials and corporate executive officers, and finance leaders to discuss how trilateral collaboration in deployment can overcome the hurdles and concrete opportunities to scale decarbonization. ➡️ Joining Net Zero Tracker to discuss how we move from setting targets to meeting them and hearing from great examples of leadership from around the world. ➡️ Showcasing to influential players from different industries how we have been pioneering partnership across our own supply chains to accelerate sustainable products – with Goals House. ➡️ Participating in an event with The New York Times to discuss AI’s role in sustainability efforts. But climate action does not end here. We will continue to break down barriers and foster the collaboration needed to act right and act fast.

Wow! We are thrilled with the engagement! Recently we welcomed 80 female students to an exclusive evening at Volvo’s Technology headquarters to explore the great world of engineering, together with Chalmers Women's Association (CWA). We shared experiences, discussed future technology areas, and important topics such as diversity, and inclusion. We are proud to be the main sponsor for CWA and thankful to build connections with these future talents!

"The Green Balance Mechanism, proposed by the World Shipping Council, offers an intelligent, fair, and progressive route forward for the shipping industry’s adoption of green maritime fuels. This proposal affects not only shipping companies, but also trucking companies and their business models, further down the value chain. Only by promoting green fuel alternatives and closing the pricing gap with fossil-based fuels can we advance our transition to net-zero emissions across the broader transport sector." - Martin Lundstedt, President and CEO, Volvo Group. #giveusachancetochange #greenbalancemechanism #allthewaytozero

We’re at #ClimateWeekNYC, together with partners and industry colleagues from around the world, to participate in important discussions and share our vision of a road to #netzero. Because the time to act is now. “Climate Week NYC gives us an opportunity to show the world our emission-free solutions for transport and construction equipment. What we want to see now is policymaker support to speed up the adoption of these solutions by promoting the use of zero-emission trucks and construction equipment in our cities and towns”, says our Chief Sustainability Officer, Karin Svensson. The first Climate Week NYC took place in 2009. The summit is held alongside the United Nations General Assembly, allowing heads of state and other senior governmental figures to attend and participate.
