Our Story Universum was founded in 1988 in Stockholm, Sweden by aspiring MBA student, Lars-Henrik Friis Molin. It started as a class project to improve communication between students and the companies that wanted to recruit them. The results of the very first survey were eye opening enough to be published by the national press. After that, numerous employers reached out to inquire whether additional questions could be asked in the future. And so, Universum was born! 🌟 Building UNIQA's First Group-Wide EVP! 🌟 Since kicking off this project in June, Universum has been working closely with UNIQA Insurance Group to gather both internal and external insights. Recently, we held an exciting full-day co-creation session to define UNIQA’s overarching EVP, aiming to create a cohesive employee experience across all UNIQA regions. With team members from all across EMEA, we reviewed our research findings and dove into EVP development. 🌍 Celebrating Heritage Month with Colleagues from Around the World! 🌍 We recently hosted a vibrant and insightful panel discussion in partnership with the Race Equality Network and our Universum colleagues from Pakistan, South Africa, France, and Argentina. It was an enriching experience exploring the diverse cultural practices and traditions that shape our identities. Thank you to everyone who participated and shared their perspectives - Julien MARCHALANT, Andrés Gregorio Guevara, Maryam Usman, Welcome Moyo, and our fantastic moderator Lauryane Latapie. Here are some of the key highlights from our discussion: 1️⃣ Languages and Cultural Identity In Pakistan, there are 72-75 languages spoken, while South Africa recognizes 11 official languages! We asked our panelists how many languages they personally speak and what this linguistic diversity means for them. It was fascinating to hear about the role language plays in connecting with one's heritage and fostering cultural pride. 2️⃣ Beliefs and Superstitions Across Cultures From upside-down bread to the unique "Gnocchi eating tradition" in Argentina, we delved into how superstitions shape daily lives in different countries. We explored whether our panelists are superstitious and what they think about these age-old beliefs. 3️⃣ Celebrating Heritage Day/Month We learned about how each country celebrates Heritage Month, and the different ways people preserve and honor their heritage and culture. From traditional foods to music and community events, it was a reminder of how important it is to stay connected to our roots. 4️⃣ Traditional Family Practices Our colleague from Argentina shared the tradition of baptizing babies on their first birthday, while we discussed how this practice differs in countries like France. It was a beautiful moment to reflect on the value of family traditions and the ways they bring us closer together. 5️⃣ The Amapiano Phenomenon We discovered the South African genre "Amapiano" and how it represents more than just music – it’s a mix of culture and a lifestyle that unites people across generations and backgrounds. 💬 It was an inspiring session that reminded us of the beauty and richness of our diverse heritage.
