At Scania, we work with sustainable transport solutions. We also want to develop the latest technology in our products. And for our employees to have cutting-edge tools. One way to make this happen is to collaborate with innovative partners. We are always looking for great relationships, and when it comes to AI, we now work with OpenAI. The alliance with OpenAI is a step on our digital transformation journey, and the integration of ChatGPT Enterprise is a fundamental reimagining of how we work and bring value to customers, partners and society. If OpenAI’s technology improves customer support, we’ll use it. If it enhances driver experience or makes transport efficient through better charging and smarter route planning, we’ll apply it. We’ve been refining efficiency for decades, and these new tools will continue to improve what we do best. Our goal is not to follow trends but to lead meaningful change that enhances our products and operations. “By making AI tools available to everyone in our company, we’re helping our employees work smarter and more efficiently. This brings us closer to our goal of leading the shift to sustainable transport solutions,” Scania’s CTO Sara Forsberg concludes.

People sustainability is a central part of Scania’s core values, and we’re involved in many social impact initiatives around the world. One excellent example is Together, a mentorship volunteer programme that Scania runs in partnership with War Child, a global non-governmental organisation which works to ensure that children and young people have access to protection, education and psychosocial support. In this film, you’ll meet Siar, one of the many mentees, Johnny, a Scania employee and mentor, and Ranjani, Managing Director of War Child Sweden, who explains why this initiative is so important for the futures of children and young people who’ve been affected by conflict. “Together is a vital part of our wider social impact work. It’s fun, it’s rewarding, and it can help transform people’s lives for the better,” says Jeanna Tällberg, Head of People and Culture at Scania. Watch the film, and be inspired!

  • Scania is the first funding partner of the Stockholm Resilience Foundation – supporting the world-leading Stockholm Resilience Centre to advance science for a livable planet. Insights shape Scania’s strategy into how our world might look in the future. We need research to ensure we are at the forefront as the business environment changes and supports our transition. “Over the years, the Stockholm Resilience Centre has proven to have a unique competence to train leaders in these difficult issues and, more importantly, to have decision-makers translate this knowledge into concrete strategies and targets. As the world gets increasingly complex, we need sustainable partnerships with researchers with expert knowledge in several of Scania's key complex areas,” says Fredrik Nilzén, Head of Corporate Sustainability at Scania. The Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC) is a research institute focused on advancing knowledge and fostering collaboration to achieve sustainable development. It was established in 2007 as a joint initiative between Stockholm University and the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. SRC studies resilience, which refers to the capacity of social-ecological systems to cope with change and continue to develop. The research emphasises how societies can navigate global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss and resource depletion. SRC also played a central role in developing the Planetary Boundaries Framework introduced 2009 by a group of scientists, including Johan Rockström (then Director of SRC). The Stockholm Resilience Foundation was launched in 2024 to support SRC. Photo: Fredrik Nilzén with Dr Lisen Schultz, SRC Deputy Director

We believe that by strengthening entrepreneurial skills and unlocking the power of people’s inner drive, great things can happen! At yesterday’s Engineering Day, Scania proudly presents the Engineering Entrepreneurship Award to celebrate innovation and bold ideas in technology. This year’s award goes to AirForestry and their co-founders Olle Gelin, Caroline Walerud, and Mauritz Andersson for their groundbreaking work in developing harvest drones that revolutionise forestry practices. Motivation: “This year’s winner pioneers a unique technology paired with a strong value proposition and business model, offering significant growth potential while radically enhancing forests' ability to capture carbon.” By recognising innovators like AirForestry, we aim to inspire engineers across industries to explore their entrepreneurial spirit and develop ideas that can shape a sustainable future. Presenting the award is Linda Fragner, Innovation Lead at Scania, who says, “With this award we want to inspire people within engineering in all types of industries to develop their entrepreneurial abilities and dare to push through their ideas.” Engineering Day isn’t just about awards, though – knowledge sharing and inspiration are also important parts of it. Marie Bemler, Technology Strategy at Scania, holds a much-appreciated 'hero talk' called “The Power of Storytelling: How talking about AI is driving the future”, discussing how visions not only shape our future goals but also guide our decisions today. In addition, Elisabeth Hörnfeldt, from Sustainable Transport Solutions at Scania, and Viktoria Kindesjö, Co-founder of Elain - Data driven insights for greener transport, lead the Masterclass “HITS: From idea to realisation with entrepreneurial spirit and AI as enablers”, providing their insights into how to use research, data, and the latest trends to develop future-ready solutions for the transport industry. #EngineeringDay Ingenjörsdagen
