Then we did a spring collection together with soft knitted pieces. Tina Lemke, Marketing and Brand Experience Manager at OnceMore® talks about how we work with brands and what we are looking for in a partnership. - More often than not, we reach out to brands [rather than the other way round], so we have already researched their sustainability credentials. The things we look out for are: how much data they ask for, what kind of questions they ask, what their criteria for sourcing materials looks like, and whether they are willing to form a long-term partnership rather than just a capsule collection. The other big challenge is helping them understand what the final product will look and feel like. Design teams are very visual, so having examples from other brand projects to show them - even if the material they end up with is slightly different - is crucial. We, Södra, our members and OnceMore are all rooted in Swedish forests. At OnceMore®, we produce high-quality dissolving pulp at our Mörrum Mill in southern Sweden. We are the first to transform post-consumer textile waste with responsibly managed wood on an industrial scale. Our mills provide efficient water access and logistics for shipping. Currently, we can produce 6000 tons of OnceMore® dissolving pulp annually, equal to 24 million garments — with plans to scale up.

What do you know about viscose? The Viscose process was invented back in 1894. Since then, it has gone through ups and downs and has steadily been developed towards today’s high-technological standard characterized by more and more closed water loops and lower chemical consumption. Viscose fibres can be cut into smaller pieces (staple fibre) and spun into yarn (filament) in the same way as cotton or produced as very long fibres – similar to silk. Viscose is made from wood.
