    This week, Tomas Lilja focuses on Habits, Routines, and Rituals and explains why brands should focus on rituals.   Habits are automatic, routines are practical, but rituals carry emotional weight. For brands, becoming part of consumers' rituals—those meaningful, repeated actions—can foster deeper connections and brand loyalty. Examples like OLW Sverige AB, which successfully became part of the “Fredagsmys” (Friday cozy) tradition, or #Oreo’s iconic “twist, lick, dunk” ritual are powerful brand rituals that competitors can hardly replicate, regardless of product quality.     Yesterday, many of us joined IAB Sverige's Programmatic event. For those not in the business, programmatic advertising is the automated process of buying and selling digital ad space. It uses data to target the right audiences at the right time, making ads more effective and cost-efficient and connecting brands with people in smarter, faster ways. IAB Sverige, together with industry leaders like Omnicom, helps develop and define the standards and role of programmatic in our industry. In the US, according to EMARKETER, programmatic accounts for over 9 in 10 ad display dollars, with an estimated investment of $156 billion. It’s a segment that continues to grow every year and one that everyone should be aware of.     With Advertising Week New York wrapped, I want to take a moment to congratulate everyone across Omnicom Media Group who helped make this another great event for our clients. The combination of delivering actionable insights on stage and first-to-market initiatives underscored our constant desire to create thought leadership, and a valuable experience for our clients. It's this relentless obsession with our customers’ businesses that drove a remarkable — and potentially under reported — stat in last week's COMvergence Global Media Agency New Business Barometer H1 2024. All of us are immensely proud that wins like Volkswagen Group, HP, Sainsbury's, Gap Inc., Michelin, Priceline, Tapestry or Hanesbrands Inc., made OMG the #1 global media group for total new business in H1, capturing 35% of a record-setting $16.4 billion of media business in review for the first 6 months of the year total and securing the two top spots for the best performing agency networks. The number that caught my eye the most though was the industry’s best retention rate (89%). And that’s where thought leadership plays a critical role.   Because thought leadership is where our clients engage with OMG on a different level. Not just as their media partner, but as the media group that is driving the broader industry discussion around media effectiveness and advancing the industry to enable better outcomes for them.    In H1, that engagement helped OMG keep 9 out of every 10 billing dollars that we had in play. In an industry that constantly looks for the next new business headline, we truly believe that keeping and constantly evolving existing client relationships is the true art of our business — and one that adds the most value.     Yesterday, we celebrated 3 years of Amazon Ads in Sweden! 👏 It’s incredible to see how much has changed since Amazon’s launch here. In just three years, Amazon has transformed the way we shop, offering convenience and a vast range of products delivered straight to our homes. From supporting local businesses to connecting Swedish shoppers with global brands, Amazon has established its role as a key player in Sweden’s e-commerce landscape. According to a recent Similarweb report from October, Amazon is now the most visited online shop in the country. There are plenty of reasons to celebrate!
