Last week, nWise and Access256 had a successful presence at the #NAD Biennial Conference 2024. Bryen Yunashko and Stacey Stelmach engaged visitors at our booth, showcasing the myMMX db on iOS. Attendees, both existing customers and potential ones, were very interested to learn about how to access Sign to Text Relay (by Sorenson VRS) with myMMX db. 🚨 Real-Time Text (RTT) has recently become a critical topic in the context of Emergency Services and emergency calls. For people who are Deaf, DeafBlind, or Hard of Hearing, it is essential that these services offer RTT, enabling them to make calls independently. However, integrating RTT into your infrastructure requires more than just adding the feature; RTT calls must be handled the same way as voice calls. Ensuring the use of standardized RTT is essential for enabling a single application to manage all call types, particularly vital emergency calls. By implementing this standardization, we can overcome geographical limitations and address issues like roaming. This would enable Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing individuals to make text calls to Emergency Services while traveling internationally—a capability that is currently unavailable. Here you can see the standards that nWise RTT Bridge are following, to create a functional Emergency Service for RTT calls. 🚨 EN 301 549 is a European standard for digital accessibility that mandates accessibility for people with disabilities in information and communication technologies. The Commission intends for this standard to be revised to include accessibility requirements for electronic communication services with regard to Real-Time Text (RTT) and Total Conversation (TC). In Europe, RTT is primarily used as Over-the-Top (OTT) apps by people who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing. The new standards should be fully implemented by PSAPs by 2027 at the latest, with the possibility that Native RTT will be required. Below, you can see a list of European Countries that offer RTT and TC through OTT apps, either as Peer-to-Peer calls, through Relay Services, or for Emergency Services. In the table, you can also see the locations where nWise is the RTT provider. If you want to read more about RTT, visit: https://nwise.se/ To read more about the implementation of RTT and TC in Europe, read this document from the European Emergency Number Association (EENA): https://lnkd.in/e3ZgQgPH #Accessibility #EmergencyServices #RelayServices #DeafCommunity #Inclusion #Technology
