What a week!!! ☀️✨🌳🌲🏞️🌊🌪️🌍🌎🌏🦎🐄🌾🥑🧺💹🤝...presenting the second chapter of my #PhD thesis... plus new and old friends and colleagues!
The IUFRO World Congress 2024 in Stockholm featured over 4,500 participants, 200 sessions and 4,500 presentations by leading experts, showcasing the latest research, technologies, and applied science across various #forest-related topics.
Some inspiration and highlights🤓:
🧬 1. The role of forest genetic resources: Several sessions focused on the importance of forest #genetic #diversity in enhancing the resilience of forests to #climate change. Such as assisted migration, adaptive genomics, and the use of underutilized forest genetic resources for climate adaptation.
🕸️ 2. Promoting #sustainable forest management and the #bioeconomy: The need to balance conflicting demands on forests, such as timber production, ecosystem services, biodiversity loss and climate change mitigation.
🤝 3. Strengthening #science-policy-practice linkages: A #platform for dialogue between scientists, policymakers, and practitioners to translate research into effective policies and on-the-ground actions to address 1 and 2.
🤔 4. New #governance models, and policies to drive the #transition to low-carbon, nature-based and resilient economies for sustainable societies.
👾5. #AI-powered remote sensing, automation, and data analytics to support sustainable forest management.
💡6. A call to #increase efforts for more inclusion and leadership of Indigenous and traditional people and their local #knowledge
🥇A need for more studies working with #SocialEcologicalSystems!
