Happy birthday to us! Today we celebrate turning 105. We were founded in Sweden in 1919 by entrepreneur and salesman Axel Wenner-Gren who had worked stubbornly since 1908 to realize a vision: making vacuum cleaners lighter and easier to use. “Every home, an Electrolux home” was his motto. The average person’s daily consumption of water in the home is 150 liters – that's the equivalent of almost four showers. So how can we make 50 liters a day a reality? To find out, we’re taking part in a pilot in Los Angeles — alongside our 50L Coalition members including IKEA, Procter & Gamble and Kohler Co. — retrofitting homes with our appliances to test how new innovations and efficiency can help drive down water use. We’re celebrating 25 years at our global HQ in Stockholm, Sweden. A quarter of a century ago, the Electrolux Group team based in Stockholm said goodbye to the company’s original HQ at Lilla Essingen in the city which had been our home since we were founded in 1919. Pictured is the team on the very last day at Lilla Essingen. Since 1999, our global HQ has been based on the Stockholm island of Kungsholmen and was officially opened by the King of Sweden. #tbt #25year

Extending clothing life presents the single largest opportunity to reduce the carbon, water and waste footprints of clothes. Published today in our latest The Truth About Laundry Report are the findings of our seven-year, science-led research program focused on extended clothing life which shows that choosing lower temperatures and shorter cycles can length the lifespan of clothes by more than 50%. For example, a cotton T-shirt washed at 30°C for 59 minutes will last over 50% longer than if it’s washed on a regular 40°C cycle which can last up to 120 minutes, if not longer.
