Kolsky Destrict (Roushie: Ко́льский райо́н) is a admeenistrative destrict (raion), ane o the sax in Murmansk Oblast, Roushie.[2] As a municipal division, it is incorporatit as Kolsky Municipal Destrict.[4] It is locatit in the northwast o the oblast, pairtially lees on the Kola Peninsula, an borders wi the Barents Sea in the north an Finland in the wast.[6] The aurie o the destrict is 27,600 square kilometer (10,700 sq mi).[6] Its admeenistrative centre is the toun o Kola.[2] Population: 44,670 (2010 Census);[7] 51,125 (2002 Census);[12] 73,555 (1989 Census).[13] The population o Kola accoonts for 23.4% o the destrict's tot population.[7]

[eedit | eedit soorce]It wis established as Kolsko-Loparsky Destrict (Ко́льско-Лопа́рский райо́н) on 1 August 1927, when the Aw-Roushie Central Executive Committee (VTsIK) issued twa Resolutions: "On the Establishment o Leningrad Oblast" an "On the Borders an Componition o the Okrugs o Leningrad Oblast".[10] Accordin tae thir resolutions, Murmansk Govrenorate wis transformit intae Murmansk Okrug, which wis dividit intae sax districts (Kolsko-Loparsky bein ane o thaim) an includit intae Leningrad Oblast.[10] The admeenistrative centre o the destrict wis in the selo o Kola.[10]
In 1934, the Murmansk Okrug Executive Committee developit a redestrictin proposal, which wis appruivit bi the Resolution o the 4t Plenar Session o the Murmansk Okrug Committee o the VKP(b) on 28-29 Dizember 1934 an bi the Resolution o the Presidium o the Murmansk Okrug Executive Committee on 2 Februar 1935.[11] Accordin tae this proposal, Kolsko-Loparsky Destrict wis tae be abolished, wi Kirovsky an Kolsky Destricts tae be established in its place.[11] On 15 Februar 1935, the VTsIK appruivit the redestrictin o the okrug intae seiven destricts, but did no specifee wha territories the new destricts wur tae include.[11] On 26 Februar 1935, the Presidium o the Leningrad Oblast Executive Committee wirkit oot the details o the new destrict scheme an issued a resolution which established Kirovsky Destrict on pairt o the territory o Kolsko-Loparsky Destrict, includin the toun o Kirovsk wi the wirk dounset o Kukisvumchorr in its jurisdiction, Yena-Babinsky Selsoviet, an the soothren pairt o Ekostrovsky Selsoviet wi the station o Khibiny.[11] Minkinsky Selsoviet o Kolsko-Loparsky Destrict wis transferred tae Polyarny Destrict, an Kildinsky Selsoviet—tae Lovozersky Destrict.[11] Kolsky, Notozersky, Peyvo-Yarvinsky, an Pulozersky Selsoviets, as well as the northren pairt o Ekostrovsky Selsoviet remained in Kolsko-Loparsky Destrict, which wis renamed Kolsky.[11] The admeenistrative centre o Kolsky Destrict wis slatit tae be muivit tae the station o Laplandiya, but temporarily remained in Kola.[11] On 1 Juin 1936, the renamin o the destrict wis appruivit bi the Resolution o the VTsIK.[11]

On 21 Apryle 1935, the territory o Ekostrovsky Selsoviet which remained in Kolsky Destrict wis re-organisit as Imandrovsky Selsoviet bi the Resolution o the Presidium o Murmansk Okrug Executive Committee.[11] Bi the Act o the conciliatory committee on 20 October 1935, the selsoviet wis transferred tae Kirovsky Destrict—a decision appruivit bi the Presidium o Murmansk Okrug Executive Committee on 4 Dizember 1935 an bi the Presidium o Leningrad Oblast Executive Committee on 5 Apryle 1936.[11]
On 25 November 1935, the Presidium o the VTsIK grantit wirk dounset status tae the inhabitit locality o Moncha-Guba, an renamit it Monchegorsk.[11] At the same time, it wis transferred frae Kolsky tae Kirovsky Destrict.[11]

When Polyarny Destrict wis abolished on 9 Julie 1960, a pairt o its territory wis transferred tae Kolsky Destrict.[15]
