Different plant growth regulators (PGR) viz. PGR = Control, PGR = 4-CPA (4-chloro phenoxy acetic acid) @ 20 ppm, PGR = GA (Gibberellic Acid) @ 20 ppm and PGR = 4-CPA + GA3 @ 20 ppm of each were used in the study. The growth and yield contributing characters were significantly differed due to different plant growth regulators. The maximum plant height at 60 DAT (86.01cm), number of flowers cluster per plant (10.60), number of flowers per plant (39.69), number of fruits per plant (36.54), single fruit weight (74.01 g) and yield (28.40 t ha ) were found in PGR and the minimum for all the parameters were found in control (PGR ) treatment.

It is necessary to develop a method for preserving juice that has a long storage life. Three different jars, including a clay pot (T 1), stainless steel jars with insulation and an ice-cooling system (T 2), and a stainless steel jar without insulation and an ice-cooling system (T 3), were used to collect and preserve the juice. Gur samples were packaged in a variety of materials, including newspaper, earthen pot, painted earthen pot, and brown paper. Gur samples were collected from a variety of sources, including gur prepared by SAU-designed machines, contact growers by traditional method, Jashore and Khulna local markets. The findings revealed that juice collected in stainless steel jars with insulation performed better than the other juice collectors in terms of shelf life and quality. Gur prepared by SAU designed machine had the highest total soluble solid and ascorbic acid content, while gur collected from Jashore and Khulna markets had the lowest. However, gur procured from markets (Jashore and Khulna) showed the highest levels of microbial activity and reducing sugar, while gur produced by machine showed the lowest levels of microbial activity. Among all packaging materials, the painted earthen pot effectively extends the shelf life of gur.

The experiment was conducted to investigate the responses of different mulch materials and GA3 on plant morphological, physiological and yield attributes of strawberries during the period from November 2020 to March 2021. The experimental treatments included three different mulch materials: black polythene, white polythene, saw dust, and control (no mulch); and GA3 (0 and 200 ppm) were studied. According to the findings, strawberries grown with sawdust and GA3 had the highest chlorophyll content (SPAD value) (48.23), relative water content (76.45%), leaf area (48.23 cm2), maximum number of fruits (19.66) and fruit yield (321 g/plant). In contrast, individual fruit weight (18g) was the highest for plants grown in sawdust without GA3. Black polythene mulch showed no satisfactory improvement in the growth and yield characteristics of s...

Moreover, plant growth is largely dependent on the physicochemical properties of the growing media. The purpose of this study was to see how different growing media and shade houses affected strawberry plant growth, yield, and quality attributes. The experimental treatments include net house, UV poly shade house, and open field (control) conditions; and three different growing media i.e., 50% soil + 50% cowdung, 50% soil + 50% vermicompost, and 50% soil + 50% cocopeat were studied. According to the findings, strawberries grown in a net house with cocopeat substrate had the highest chlorophyll content (SPAD value) (46.1), fruit yield (289.16 g plant-1), total soluble solid (8.0%), reducing sugar (8.75 mg g-1) and total anthocyanin (30.80 mg 100 g-1). In contrast, fruits grown under UV poly shed with cocopeat substrate exhibited increased plant height (20.33 cm) and ascorbic acid ...
Barley yellow dwarf (BYD) is one of the most widespread and serious viral diseases in the world. ... more Barley yellow dwarf (BYD) is one of the most widespread and serious viral diseases in the world. The causal agent, Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) can infect cereal crops including wheat, barley and oats, leading to significant yield losses. There are several strains of BYDV, among the BYDV strains (PAV, MAV, SGV, RPV and RMV), BYDV-PAV is the most common and prevailing strain in Australia. Breeding BYD resistant/tolerant crops has become one of the top priorities for controlling BYDV. A proper resistance screening method is crucial for selecting resistant genotypes in a breeding program. In this study, we developed a reliable screening method for BYDV-PAV resistance of cereal crops under glasshouse conditions. At two-leaf stage, inoculation of 5-10 viruliferous aphids per plant for four days was shown to be a quick and effective screening technique for selecting BYD resistance in wheat, barley and oats. Visual evaluation of symptoms on barley and oats is considered adequate for ev...

Protected cultivation of horticultural crops is a common practice in developed countries. However, it is rarely observed in the developing countries, particularly for papaya production. Therefore, this study was carried out to find a protective approach to papaya cultivation to mitigate the environmental factors to obtain a quality yield. This production system consists of three treatments, including net house, poly shed house, UV poly shed house, and open field conditions (control). The results revealed that plants grown in the net house had significantly higher leaf number (30), fruit number (68), and fruit yield (56.28 kg/plant) than the control grown plant. Papaya cultured in the net house also showed significantly higher acc...

Th... more Climate change especially water stress affects crop productivity in many regions of the world. The current paper assesses the impact of water stress on growth and fruit yield of tomato. Winter cultivar (BARI Tomato-14) was grown under different levels of moisture stress (control, 75, and 50% evapotranspiration moisture) in pot experiment using a randomized complete block design with three replications. The experiment results showed that increased moisture stress progressively reduced plant height (92.73, 90.06, and 75.58 cm), leaf area (198.69, 187.56, and 176.66 cm2), chlorophyll content (47.41, 40.87 and 38.10 mg/g), leaf dry matter (18.07, 16.27, and 12.24%), number of branches (13.55, 12.06 and 10.00) and leaf number (22.93, 22.44, and 20.34) under control 100, 75, and 50% of evapotranspiration conditions, respectively. The result also showed a significant and positive correlation between fruit yield and growth and physiological parameters. The highest correlation was observed b...
