Frequently Asked Questions

To apply for a position, visit our Job Portal to view and select from the positions listed. You can make use of the search feature to narrow down the options, or you can scroll through the list to see what is available.
Thank you for your interest in joining Vale, we appreciate the time you have taken to apply. Your application will be reviewed, and you will receive further contact or feedback from a Vale Recruiter. We ask that you also monitor your junk/spam as emails sometimes end up there.
We encourage you to proactively apply to those positions that interest you the most. However, if you have applied to any position previously, your application remains in our database and is searchable by our Vale Recruiters.
We recommend you visit our Job Portal. At the top right corner of the page, you will see an option to ‘Join Talent Network’. Click the link and fill out your details to join the community. Once you do so, your information will be available to Vale recruiters who are able to contact you should you be a good fit for future opportunities.
We look for candidates whose values align with Vale’s and encourage you to share how you will contribute to living by our values in the role that you are applying for. Also ensure you highlight  your skills, capabilities and experience based on the requirements of the job as listed in the posting.
Once you submit your application, you are not able to edit or update your application.
You are not required to provide any additional documentation when applying. If you are invited for an interview with any member of the hiring team, and additional documentation is required, a Vale recruiter will request such from you.
Vale offers a comprehensive relocation package to qualified new hires.
First consideration is provided to applicants who are legally eligible to work in Canada. Those who are not currently eligible to work in Canada are welcome to apply and would be considered for positions.

  • Always double check the source of the information. 
  • If you’re being contacted by a recruiter from Vale, or a subsidiary of the company, the email will come from @vale.com. 
  • Be wary of unsolicited job offers and of messages containing spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes. 
  • Vale will never conduct an interview via email or through messages.

 Career Profiles at Vale

  Within Canada, we provide jobs for all the different categories listed below. Read the descriptions and learn where you fit in.

Production 

Production workers include our Miners and Operators.

Miners are responsible for drilling, blasting, operating a variety of mining machinery and constructing and maintaining drifts, passageways and shafts in our mining operations.

Operators monitor, process, control machinery and equipment to manage the processing of mineral ores, molten metals, electrolytic solutions and nickel metal. 

Maintenance 

Maintenance work includes Millwrights, Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics (HDET), Industrical Electricians, Machinists, Welders and masons.

Millwrights install, maintain and repair hydraulic equipment, mechanical drives, conveying systems, overhead cranes and pumps, and carry out precision alignments.

HDETs diagnose, repair, overhaul and maintain hydraulic, electro-hydraulic and electric equipment used in mining activities.

Industrial Electricians install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls.

Supervisors & Superintendents

These are our frontline leaders!

As a Supervisor, you may be accountable for planning, scheduling and/or supervising a crew while as a Superintendent, you will lead a team of supervisors.

Although previous experience in mining or an industrial setting is considered an asset, we also appreciate that diversity of thought comes from our differences – and that’s what makes us great!

 Engineering and Geology 

The opportunities are endless within the Engineering and Geology fields.

Mining Engineers design the development of mines and supervise the extraction of ore whereas civil engineers design and manage projects for the construction or repair of buildings, roads, facilities and services. Vale also has a world of opportunities for chemical and metallurgical engineers, mechanical engineers, engineering technologists and more. 

Geologists and Geophysicists carry out exploration and data analysis to learn more about the structure and composition of our ore bodies. They work co-operatively with our Mining Engineers to plan and do mineral extraction. Chemists/Analysts perform analysis of geological materials such as drill cores and ore samples, as well as liquid and solid process samples, to ensure that our products meet or exceed the excellent standards our global customers expect from Vale.

Other Corporate Functions

From Accountants and Business Professionals who are responsible for financial forecasting, capital allocation, acquisitions and investments to Information Technology Professionals who plan and direct national or global IT projects and Human Resources Professionals who work on innovative projects in systems design and organizational development across the company. There is no shortage of opportunities for you here at Vale.
