Former Nebraska star running back Calvin Jones died this week at the age of 54. Omaha Police responded to his home near 38th and Franklin Street after a neighbor called firefighters to report an odor of gas coming from the house. Officers said a man, later identified as Jones, was found dead in the basement. He became a star at Nebraska as part of the We Backs in the early 1990’s under head coach Tom Osborne. Jones played for the Huskers form 1990-1993 and rushed for over 3,100 yards and 40 touchdowns. He earned a super bowl ring as a member of the Green Bay Packers.
