Yesterday, the ICC Court of Arbitration and ICC Serbia, Karanović & Partners, and Pinsent Masons hosted the third ICC Belgrade Infrastructure and Dispute Resolution Conference. The event gathered around 130 participants, leading professionals and legal experts to discuss key issues in infrastructure contracting, FIDIC contracts, and the integration of ESG principles in international arbitration. The conference opened with remarks from our Senior Partner Milan Lazic and Nevena Rakić, from the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, followed by a keynote speech from Renato Nazzini, professor at King’s College in London. Three engaging panels included Duško Krsmanović, from UK Export Finance, Vojin Zajić from STRABAG, Dino Simonoski Bukovski from Akuo Energy, our Partner Maja Jovancevic Setka, Matej Kosalko, Senior Associate at A&O Shearman, Daniel Miles from J.S. Held, Luminita Popa, Partner at Popa Legal, Ziva Filipic from ICC International Court of Arbitration, Marily Paralika, Partner at Fieldfisher, and Maja Stanivuković from the Faculty of Law, University of Novi Sad. Yesterday, EY and Karanović & Partners hosted a “Bond Financing – Benefits and Challenges from Financial and Legal Perspectives” conference at the Hyatt Regency Belgrade, focusing on corporate bond issuance and the support program backed by the Serbian Ministry of Finance. The event featured Ognjen Popovic, Assistant Minister in the Financial System Department, who introduced a support program aimed at stimulating Serbia’s capital market. Our Partners Ivan Nonkovic and Katarina Guduric presented the regulatory framework in Serbia and the key steps involved in the bond issuance process, as well as the different obligations of the issuers upon successfully completing the issuance process. Maja Sahbaz Marojevic, MRICS and Branislav Bandić, CFA led discussions on procedural requirements, while Mikio Suzuki ACCA and Danko Kalkan covered ESG bonds and their importance for social responsibility. We thank all speakers for their contributions, especially the Ministry's representative, whose role is vital in this initiative.
