This two-day workshop was a great opportunity to align with our fantastic partners, including Primăria Municipiului Alba Iulia, Faculty of Business Administration in foreign languages (FABIZ-ASE), Polytechnic University Timișoara, Smart Innovation Norway, villages of Crucea and Buteni, and our Norwegian funders from EEA and Norway Grants by Innovation Norway in Romania. We believe in the power of innovative solutions and collaboration to make the energy transition a reality. This project represents an ambitious step toward creating sustainable energy communities and driving decarbonization across Romania and Norway. 🌱⚡ A big thank you to our partners and hosts for an inspiring start to this journey. And it’s a wrap. The two-day kick-off workshop of EMERGE - Empowering Communities Towards Energy Transition in Romania - took place in the beautiful city of Alba Iulia. The local municipality, Primăria Municipiului Alba Iulia, our partners at Faculty of Business Administration in foreign languages (FABIZ-ASE) in this challenging new project, is implementing no less than 47 projects in the energy decarbonization field as we speak. We learned a lot in two days and our ambitions have increased. We are doing this not only with Alba Iulia, but also with the villages of Crucea and Buteni, with Polytechnic University Timișoara, Energy Advisor (a brilliant start-up in the energy field) and with our Norwegian partners from Smart Innovation Norway. We couldn’t have had better hosts and partners in this journey of figuring out the technical, economic and social feasibility of energy communities in three locations in Romania. Digitalizing energy systems is essential, a point on which most of us concur. Nonetheless, challenges remain, primarily related to resources and civil society opposition. At EFdeN, our colleague Alexandru addressed these issues at the Energy Policy Group Summer School 2024, showcasing the innovative solutions developed by the Renergia startup. Kudos to the organizers for hosting such a professional event. Education must be considered as one of the main pillars of the Green Transition. Looking forward to 2025 edition!
