Our second artist in Residencia, Qin Han, originally from China but based in Paris, is an acclaimed artist recognized for her unique visual practice. Qin’s art blends diverse visual vocabularies into surreal, vibrant compositions using paper cuts, collages, watercolor, and pastel. "Through my visual practice, I playfully merge diverse visual vocabularies, giving rise to surreal body configurations suspended within a wild spiritual space. My canvas becomes a portal into an inner world, an intimate space typically unveiled only through the realms of dreams and psychoanalysis. In collaboration with renowned Galleria Continua we’ve invited three emerging artists from all over the world for an artistic residency at La Residecia, a Belmond Hotel. Our first artist in Residencia, Hashel Al Lamki is a painter and multi-disciplinary artist, exploring the relationship between humankind and their environment. Throughout his career, Hashel’s work has been driven by a profound dedication to addressing social and environmental issues. Introducing the newly restyled swimming pool at La Residencia Nestled in the Tramuntana mountainside, our glorious central swimming pool has been restyled in collaboration with Mallorca-based studio More Design. Local white stone was extended around the entire pool and the space was given a bespoke facelift with a new colour scheme and playful parasols. #TheArtofBelmond #LaResidencia #Mallorca

La Residencia has been enthralling visitors to Deià for 40 years. From poets to painters, celebrities to escapists, discerning guests have been drawn to the magical energy of the hotel and its bohemian village, where the light bounces off the UNESCO-listed Tramuntana Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. The two main buildings are the original heart of the property, dating back to early and late 16th century. Former owners in that time, Miguel Canals and Mateu Moragues, gave the buildings their names. When La Residencia opened as a hotel in 1984, both buildings were restored by the first owner, German investor Axel Ball, who furnished them with pieces from the ancient estate. The prestigious Artists in Residencia committee has selected, after careful evaluation, the 3 talented artists who will take part in our curated residency programme in collaboration with Galleria Continua Hashel Al Lamki - May and June 2024 Born in 1986 in Al Ain, Hashel Al Lamki is a painter and multi-disciplinary artist. With his work, he unpacks the relationship between humankind and their habitat, the wild and constructed. Qin Han - July and August 2024 Born in China in 1987, she lives and works in Paris. Qin seamlessly blends various visual languages to create surreal bodily compositions within a vibrant spiritual realm. Guadalupe Salgado - September and October 2024 Born in Mexico City in 1991, her works generate a falsely candid narration of the human condition in the face of the collapse of their own cultures and consumption.
