Richmond restaurateurs Maria and Michael Oseguera are bringing a new restaurant — Centro — to Westchester Commons.
The Osegueras own Oceano at 1352 Sycamore Square Drive in Midlothian, which was named a “hidden gem” by the Richmond Times-Dispatch last year. They also owned Maya in downtown Richmond at 525 E. Grace St., which closed last year.
Centro will be a new concept from the couple. It will have a New American menu, inspired by South America, Peru and Maria’s native Colombia.

Centro will be taking over the former Shaved Duck location at 15408 WC Commons Way in Midlothian.
The name Centro takes its inspiration from the “center of town” in Latin American countries.
“In Colombia, everyone goes to the centro, or center of town. That’s where everyone gathers,” Michael Oseguera said.
Maria will be the chef at Centro, and the menu will focus on her life experiences and how she grew up cooking and eating.
The menu will have a Latin flair, with a few Peruvian and Asian touches, such as noodles and stir-fried steaks. There will also be a few taco dishes from Maya — such as the Korean street tacos with shrimp and kimchi and the bourbon steak tacos, as well as several ceviches and Peruvian fried rice.
Renovations are currently underway at the space, with Centro aiming to open in about five months.
