Sage 50 Review

PROS: Using it is easy. It offers a combination of accounting functionality with a Windows-esque UI. This includes the help section, wizard setup, and etc. What more can you ask for?

CONS: Sage 50c is made on a Pervasive SQL database layer, which is a bit of a flake. Its tolerance is low for any network drop/latency. The downside with this is that it can lead the product to temporarily close down. Another problem with the software is that it's only limited to a Windows 0S.

PROS: I like that Sage 50 is easy to navigate and operate after learning the ropes which does not take much time.

CONS: I feel the program design is old-fashioned. Another gripe is it is difficult to generate customized reports in Sage 50 compared to some other popular systems.

PROS: Screens are segregated in different sections. That makes everything simpler to comprehend. Presence of menus and icons are ideal for both novice and advanced users. I like the traditional look of the menus.

CONS: Backups are accomplished only if you've successfully cloused the software out. I find this terrible. That means I'd need 20 users to have all logged out in the evening. Backup system needs improvement badly.

PROS: I appreciate how easy it is to create invoices. The system is reliable and is not prone to outages.

CONS: There are a couple of issues: The billing address shows in the shipping address when a shipment is created. Plus, it is hard to add a “ship to” address for customers. Another negative is the lack of integration with CRM.

PROS: I like how all of the info can be linked to differen parts within the program. That means when a certain area is being updated with info, it'll offer a link to the next area. A unique thing to have. Makes things convenient.

CONS: Whenever time tickets are being entered, it's impossible to add the time without involving the colon. It'll resort to its "default" function. You'll have to include it in how you want it to exactly function. Otherwise it'll automatically revert to zero and see yourself going through it all over again.

PROS: Simplistic invoicing and general accounting and reconciliation.

CONS: Sage 50's support is among the worst I have experienced. They want you to pay 500.00 for a product with only one year support. When you have a problem like I had ( an account mislabeled that prevented me from closing out my year) they told me my version was too old to help me, but I could purchase an upgrade for another 500.00 with 1YEAR of support, 1 YEAR!!! Other than it being out right extortion, it is the most pathetic support program on the planet. Steer clear of this unethical company. There are easier and more efficient programs that actually support their product.

PROS: I love that Sage 50 has the features for my needs. The app is user friendly and I can process payments directly through this system. It is great that I can customize and save reports. Plus, I can customize my dashboard to access my regular tasks easily without changing screens.

CONS: I don’t have any issues with this software. However, they can improve the forms are they are a bit difficult to edit right now.

PROS: Very easy to utilize. Full control on a wide range of area. These include receivables, invenotory, reporting, and receivables. Being able to customize the design of invoices.

CONS: When it comes to invoicing/sales under the customer ID, you won't get to seek a customer by means of other fields (ex. zip code, city, state, and etc...). Unable to pay more than one vendor with a single payment in selecting invoices. Sales tax editing from the last sales tax setting. If there's a change in the rate by a local/state, you'll need to setup another tax rule without having the ability to utilize older sales tax due to it affecting the reporting on previous invoices that were charged and gathered.

PROS: Screens can easily be understood. Great support. They know how to clearly explain where things should go. They'll even give you a helping hand in how to set things up. Automated conversion from Quickbooks almost made things perfectly smooth.

CONS: User and password management are both within the software. Sadly, they can't be e-mailed to users. Support won't cater to answering accounting how-to's. Enrolling to pay for their payroll service is getting expensive by the minute.
