Show MoreBecause businesses have unique business-related needs, it is practical they steer clear of seeking an all-in-one, “perfect” solution. Needless to say, it is futile to find such application even among widely used software products. The practical step to do would be to jot down the various chief aspects that call for a consideration including major features, price terms, technical skill ability of staff, business size, etc. The second step is, you should follow through the research through and through. Go over these Chatter analyses and check out each of the software products in your shortlist in detail. Such well-rounded research ascertain you keep away from ill-fitting applications and buy the system which includes all the function your company requires.
Position of Chatter in our main categories:
Chatter is one of the top 50 Collaboration Software products
Chatter is one of the 50 Remote Work Software products
Enterprises have unique wants and requirements and no software platform can be ideal in such a situation. It is useless to try to find a perfect out-of-the-box software product that meets all your business needs. The intelligent thing to do would be to customize the solution for your special needs, employee skill levels, finances, and other factors. For these reasons, do not rush and subscribe to well-publicized popular solutions. Though these may be widely used, they may not be the ideal fit for your unique needs. Do your homework, investigate each short-listed platform in detail, read a few Chatter Social Collaboration Tools reviews, speak to the seller for clarifications, and finally choose the app that provides what you require.

PROS: It is a great tool that understands and is aware of any sales opportunity update with a good social media type messaging solution.
CONS: Being a Facebook user, I would like chatter to have some of the same features. There should be an option to follow all teams who is responsible for updates by groups or location. The email updates do not provide all info and frequency is also not constant. It should also have a Twitter-like functionality to share or re-tweet

PROS: Chatter allows me to keep my emails for client interaction only and avoid losing important messages amid clutter. Using Chatter groups also makes it easy to keep relevant information together, and following certain groups and posts ensures I stay informed on the things I want to.
CONS: Mentioning a user on a thread will include them on the email alerts for that topic even though they have not really been part of that thread on their own.

PROS: As a field consultant, I get to observe co-workers who aren't in my immediate project team once or not seeing them at all. I rarely get to see my co-workers who are abroad. Chatter lets us share what we're in the middle of doing. It helps us look into expertise from other people, communicate effectively, and posting content.
CONS: The Salesforce UI isn't really good. So I made Chatter Desktop as my main go-to platform. While some people like colloborating with each other, others don't. Hence, topics showing up on my Chatter feeds tend to be biased to those capable of making more than a dozen posts in a day.
It has the potential to be an excellent tool.

PROS: I love how easy it is to communicate. This holds true on certain records. It's useful in tagging groups and users within Chatter posts. You can even make use of hashtags in forging topics.
CONS: I dislike the fact that you have zero control on the group alert settings. Thing is, the "Announcement" tool does provide a box to checking and sending it in the form of an e-mail for all members within the group. I hate how there's no way in viewing groups that a user is currently in from their user record. Although you can still see info directly from their Chatter profile.
An awesome with transparency in the mix.

PROS: I like the thought of making things look like an open forum for both myself and the colleagues I work with. Then using such forum and offering trends and carrying out of data analysis. I like seeing what's currently trending. I like seeing what my customers and communities as are thinking.
CONS: It's certainly a challenge to be reporting on. If users don't possess the right settings, items may likely be bypassed or missed out on.

PROS: Chatter's interface is very clean and acts and feels like any other social media service you might use. It makes collaboration on specific records and files so easy. It also can be implemented in Salesforce on any object.
CONS: I've seen Chatter be underutilized because it did not have a proper implementation plan. The fact that Chatter is on the Salesforce record views does not mean users will actually utilze it.

PROS: I like that Chatter is part of Salesforce which I use most. It was easy for me to link people, emails, and activiities to SF and get that information to anyone involved.
CONS: Nothing much; the most frustrating part was trying to convince people to use what comes integrated with Salesforce such as this.
This goes beyond “Facebook for business.” It’s actually meant to help in the collaboration between records and individuals.

PROS: I like how Chatter isn't just limited to individuals working and doing posts on links. It makes it possible to collaborate in across individuals, files, records, and even through the dashboards themselves. That way, Chatter posts can possess context of the data record. The part where it's brilliant is that it gets you to break the mold of traditional silos in an organization.
CONS: At times, it can be difficult to receiving an adoption in companies themselves. This would appear to go down in an age where the younger generation can see its worthiness almost right away. At times, it can lead to a storm posts. But then again, it can be manageable by means of weekly/daily digests.
It functions exceptionally well and has carved its own place in the industry.

PROS: A number of things that I like about it. Setting it up was simple. It's easy to manage. Its Salesforce integration and mobile SF1 application.
CONS: This is only limited to the Salesforce platform itself. It won't Chatter with other platforms. But there have been rumours of having the options in doing so. Maybe they'll be opening up soon (in a controlled manner) for chat systems in the business level.

PROS: Chatter is so easy to utilize. It's great for those who are alrady accustomed to Facebook and/or Twitter. Group and individual collaborations is a cinch. Information can easily be shared and answers can be acquired by posting them when needed.
CONS: Its integration is embedded within Salesforce that it's no longer possible for it to be switched off when the functionality is no longer required. Security could use some improvement. There's now a possibility for anyone to look into posts without having to access a certain set of data.
With Salesforce Chatter, anyone can easily follow each other with virtually zero restrictions.

PROS: Its update status to sourcing information. That is, making inquiries and acquiring advice instead of sending out a blast e-mail. Passing on content that other users might see as something worthy. The great thing with Chatter is that everything can be searched.
CONS: Issues with mobile functionality. I'm currently using Android and there's no Chatter app available. This greatly resstricts Chatter use while I'm on the road. Private messaging is absent.

PROS: You can talk to colleagues without sending emails or using Skype. It is also easy to share content across the globe and be able to see history of communications
CONS: Its desktop and mobile apps look very old and outdated. Also, I could not get to talk with someone and the "one more chat tool" made the level of Chatter adoption in the company very low
