OCHA - Situation Report - Highlights ()

  • In the last months, the humanitarian situation in Ukraine continued to deteriorate as escalated attacks killed or injured civilians and damaged homes, hospitals and schools.
  • Intensified hostilities in Kharkivska Oblast caused the largest displacement in Ukraine since 2023; Donetska Oblast suffered new destruction, with humanitarian access shrinking.
  • Waves of strikes on energy infrastructure impacted access to essential services for millions of people, and the situation is expected to worsen in winter.
  • In the first five months of the year, aid organizations provided 5.2 million people with multi-sectoral assistance and organized 19 convoys to front-line areas.
  • As only 26 per cent of the 2024 humanitarian appeal was received as of the end of May, humanitarian actors could not meet critical needs.
