No dia 17 de junho, a Controllab marcou presença na Conferência 2024 sobre Indicadores Laboratoriais em Québec, no Canadá, organizada pelo grupo de trabalho Laboratory Errors and Patient Safety (WG-LEPS), da International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC). Dr. Wilson Shcolnik e Dr. Alex Galoro, representando a Sociedade Brasileira de Patologia Clínica/Medicina Laboratorial, e Fernando Berlitz, gestor de indicadores e acreditações na Controllab, apresentaram a plataforma de indicadores Metricare, iniciativa brasileira lançada em 2006 pela SBPC/ML e Controllab, e que atualmente atende aproximadamente 390 organizações em 17 países. No evento, Dr. Wilson Shcolnik apresentou a experiência, aprendizados e principais insights com a gestão comparativa de indicadores laboratoriais. As discussões abordaram tópicos fundamentais para ampliar a adesão dos laboratórios em diferentes países e a padronização internacional dos indicadores. Os especialistas abordaram a consistência dos dados brasileiros e sua contribuição global com a IFCC, incluindo a criação de novos indicadores, como os de microbiologia, destacando a relevância da plataforma para a segurança do paciente e a sustentabilidade dos laboratórios. As discussões na conferência, ocorrida no Canadá, proporcionaram identificar oportunidades de melhoria para as diretrizes e projetos futuros coordenados pela IFCC em nível mundial, nesse tema tão relevante para a gestão das organizações de medicina laboratorial. 🚀 Innovating for a Healthier Tomorrow: Responsible Antibiotic Use Today, we kicked off our Design Thinking Foundation Course, focusing on the DT Mindset and Process. This session emphasized project-based learning, and we zoomed in on a pressing issue: the responsible application of antibiotics in a world where antibiotic resistance is on the rise. 🌍💊 Thank you, Lothar H. Wieler, for bringing this topic to our program and answering questions around this topic! What I love about working in innovation is that there’s always something new to learn! Here are a few fascinating insights that i as a non-expert on these topics took from todays session: 🔬 The human body contains way more bacterial cells as human cells. 🤯 🔬 Antibiotics are not yet illness-specific and will kill multiple different bacteria each time they are used. 🔬One study (investigating specific infections such as respiratory infections or urinaryinfection and focussing on residental doctors) showed that while 80% of doctors believe patients expect antibiotics, 90% of patients actually seek help from their doctors, not necessarily antibiotics. This highlights the significant psychological and communication aspects of this issue. 🗣️💉 This topic varies significantly across the globe! It showcases the complexity and paradoxical tensions within the healthcare sector. We need organizations to invest in expensive innovations, such as new antibiotics, but ideally, we want to reach a point where no one needs to take antibiotics anymore. Innovation in healthcare is not just about creating new solutions but also about understanding and addressing the nuanced human and ethical dimensions of these challenges. One of the primary goals for me when joining Amrita Nutrition as Head of Education was to provide a helping hand to healthcare practitioners in becoming more efficient in their day-day clinical practices. People might think dietitian’s role only in hospital or clinics providing conservative and outdated advices. Undeniably partially yes. But due to changing environment of health care, new, entrepreneurial opportunities exist for dietitians by becoming outstanding Entrepreneurs, Innovators and Influencers , and it could become forces of positive change our directions in future . Watching DQRC 2024 feels like watching pitching their breakthrough idea for competition Seedlab. Summary of comments from the expert Dr Kalaiarasu Periasamy on research and poster presentation : 1. Dietitian should conduct more intervention study 2. Research should have weightage more national level to provide impactful by doing more multicentre study - clinical trial 3. Presentation skills - Methodology is very clear - hypothesis kena tepat dan jelas (1-2 slide) 4. Total slides should be not more than 10 slides - 1 minute 1 slide ( Intro, methodology, each 1 page, good result - 2-3pg, Discussion - 2-3 pg, Conclusion - 1) 5. Dalam poster presentation and case study - what is so unique and special about case study. Detail and role of dietitians 6. Tips for Poster - should be more graphic, 30% tulisan, 40% graphic, 40% background (plain color background) 7. To provide printed paper for participants to bring home Summary for Clinical Audit by Nuclear medicine physician - Dr Muhammad Adib bin Ahmad Onny 1. Most of the chosen topic are relevant and can be practised by other hospital Summary by judges for KIK 1. There are 11 evaluation assesment to be followed, to include SWAT, 5WH1, etc 2. To attend more KIK course in INTAN. Use tools 3. Executive Summary( abstract ) should be written in essay, not point 4. Pilot study should be conducted in field, by whom, and to be verified for practice. 5. Previous, during and after data should be documented 6. Innovation timeline should be written and monitored properly 7. MyIPO for intellectual copyright 8. Report should be formatted 9. Presentation within 10 minutes 10. Exclude introduction but highlight more on using TOOL 11. To include outcome/impact/wow factor in presentation I wish Dietitians in institutions and universities could provide the same or more towards growing our dietetics services.
