🌠 This week, Neuraspace participated in the European Space Weather Week 2024 (ESWW), where Tiago Baptista and Maria Almeida presented our latest work on "Predicting the Thermospheric Density in LEO with Deep Learning". 🌍 Why Thermospheric Density Matters: Thermospheric density plays a vital role in orbit determination, propagation, and collision avoidance—yet remains a key source of uncertainty in calculating the position and velocity of satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). 🛰️ Our Contribution: We are advancing state-of-the-art thermospheric density models by integrating machine learning, improving predictive power, and providing confidence intervals to our predictions. ✨ Goals: ↳ This development aims to support safer and more efficient space traffic management as we enter an era of heightened solar activity. ↳ With innovations like these, we continue to work towards mitigating the overall risks posed by the limitations of the current thermosphere density estimation models. ↳ Our efforts also contribute to the ongoing advancements in space traffic management and coordination. #ESWW2024 #SpaceSafety #MachineLearning #Neuraspace #SpaceWeather

The Financial Times, in partnership with Statista, also ranked two Portuguese startup hubs in Europe’s top 10, including the Unicorn Factory Lisboa, which launched in 2022 and has already supported over 820 startups and helped raise more than €1 billion ($1.1 billion). Spotlight on Startups: Rauva: Founded by Jon Fath and Sam Mizrahi in 2022, Rauva simplifies business registration and offers features like debit cards and invoicing. With over 3,000 users, it has helped create more than a thousand new companies. Neuraspace: Led by Chiara Manfletti, Neuraspace uses AI to manage space traffic and prevent satellite collisions. Founded in 2020, it has raised $27.5 million and tracks over 300 satellites. BHOUT: Mauro Frota and Pedro Barata developed the Bhout smart boxing bag, equipped with AI and biometric sensors. Bhout has raised €10 million and plans to expand its clubs in Portugal and Spain. MyCareforce: This platform connects nurses with hospitals for extra shifts. Founded by Pedro Cruz Morais and João Hugo Silva in 2021, it has over 15,000 registered nurses and works with 70+ healthcare units. OSCAR: Founded by João Marques, Oscar offers over 150 at-home services. With more than 20,000 technicians, it has raised over €6 million and generates €12 million in annual revenue. Glooma: Developing the SenseGlove for breast self-exams, Glooma was founded by Francisco Nogueira and Frederico Stock in 2021. The startup is undergoing clinical trials and aims for FDA approval by 2025. sheerME: This platform, founded by Miguel Ribeiro, Karly Alves, and Shakil Satar, allows users to book wellness and beauty services online. Sheerme has over 250,000 users and has raised €5 million. sqill: An AI-powered mobile video editor for social media, Sqill was founded by Afonso Coimbra and Rui Ascenso in 2021. It helps users create professional content with ease. ubbu - code to create: More than 300,000 students in over 20 countries have used Ubbu to learn coding and digital skills. Founded by João Magalhães, Ubbu is designed for teachers with no coding experience and aims to reduce barriers to tech education. A study by Universidade Nova Lisboa found that Ubbu students improved their math grades by up to 17%. Paynest: Founded by Nuno Pereira in 2022, Paynest helps companies manage their employees’ finances with features like expense management, early salary access, and financial coaching. It is used by over 30,000 workers from 50+ companies in Portugal, Greece, and France, and has raised €3 million.
