Paulo Firmeza, General Manager of Altice Labs, delivered a keynote speech at the conference "Promotion of Electrotechnics in Education - the Future Starts Today" held at PCI · Creative Science Park Aveiro Region. The event focused on the future of electrotechnics and related fields in terms of #talent attraction and market sustainability in Portugal. The conference underscored the need for collaboration between educational institutions, companies, and the government to promote electrotechnics in primary and secondary education, leveraging the vast opportunities the field offers in both national and global markets. In Paulo Firmeza's speech, it was emphasized the importance of introducing electronics and electrotechnics to young people from an early age, as well as the current challenges in attracting students to these fields. He pointed out that young people's lack of awareness about these areas, coupled with the absence of this topics in school curricula and a growing disinterest in technology, are significant barriers. He also shared how Altice Labs has been addressing these issues, by adopting a human-centered corporate structure to retain employees and investing in reskilling its workforce.
