Clara's pursuit of Jake shows reckless disregard. Frightened by Clara's passion and the turmoil she wreaks in him, Jake rejects her. Shockingly, Clara kills herself while performing on stage. Upon learning of her suicide, Jake is driven to decipher what drove Clara to her death. Feeling haunted by her ghost, Jake realizes that Clara hopes to achieve in death what she couldn't in life: his love for her.
