It could be claimed that Julio Jnr had the best start in life; he had the best of schooling and studied law as a means to following his ambition to becoming a career diplomat. But he was also a superb athlete with a natural flair for football, and as time would tell it was the call of the stadium rather than the political arena that finally won the day. Such was his footballing potential he was eventually signed up by Real Madrid as a goalkeeper; this ambition realized he believed his future was secure until fate dealt him a cruel blow when he was involved in a car accident and partially paralyzed, leaving him with a two year battle to learn to walk again.
