The ISSN Portal is a web-based interface available at http://portal.issn.org. The portal gives access to the ISSN Register, the international database which contains key identification information about print and digital journals, magazines, newspapers, newsletters, and scholarly blogs and Open Access scholarly resources published in more than 100 countries.

You can find and reuse standardized identification data for more than 1,8 million print titles and more than 200,000 digital titles. 60,000 new titles are added each year by our network of professional librarians. ISSN data is amended on a regular basis with more than 130,000 updates each year.

The ISSN Register is thus the most complete and international reference database for the identification of serial publications.

The main features of the ISSN Portal are:

• - Key ISSN data released as Linked Open Data,
• - Simple, advanced and expert search options on titles already published or to be published shortly,
• - Faceted searches including search by subject classification,
• - ISSN data enriched by information provided by partners such as ISNI International Agency, Scopus, Directory of Open Access Journals among others,
• - Enhanced display features including timeline, geolocation of publications, title history and title relations,
• - ISSN data available for download in a variety of formats such as MARC 21, UNIMARC, MARC XML, RDF/XML, RDF turtle, Json,…
• - Retrieval of identification information by uploading lists of ISSN.

Through APIs

You need to automatically update your database on a regular basis or to automatically access metadata corresponding to local ISSN. You can choose to access the ISSN International Register via APIs.

OAI-PMH protocol

You need to automatically update your local version of the ISSN International Register on a regular basis or to automatically access metadata corresponding to ISSN: choose to access the ISSN International Register via the OAI-PMH protocol.

• With this protocol you can:
• - closely monitor changes in the ISSN International Register at a pace adapted to your needs (monthly, weekly, daily, etc.).
• - automatically access at any time a record in the ISSN International Register by performing a search by ISSN,
• - potentially feed into theme-based portals using predefined profiles.

Your application sends http queries to our server, which replies with a flow of data (bibliographic records) in Marc XML.
