Murder on Music Row from The Tennessean
This deep-dive, 8-part true-crime podcast is investigated and written by Tennessean reporter Keith Sharon. It focuses on the 1989 murder of country music chart director Kevin Hughes, who tried to operate with integrity in a business full of sharks and criminals. The podcast features never-before published reporting on the crime that not only defines Nashville of the 1980s and 1990s, but also shines light on a singer and one-time suspect who has demanded an apology from a detective who refuses to give him one. This podcast is incredible. Any true crime or music fan should listen. Excellent journalism. My only complaint is I wish there about 8 more episodes.
Fascinating

There are two stories here. First, there is the story of the music industry in Nashville, who the players were, how they operated, the legitimate and the scammers, and how some musicians whose names you'll recognize got their starts. Second, there is the story of the murder. Keith Sharon is a riveting storyteller. Once you start listening you'll be as hooked as I am. A great binge listen. It's worth subscribing to the Tennesseean to listen to all of the episodes now.

The Tennessean is a joke. They’ve dropped one episode but want people to subscribe to listen to the rest. F that.
