PLEASE READ: This is bonus content for premium subscribers, Casefile will be returning with regular weekly episodes for free, starting with Case 200, on February 5.
In March 1996, Karina prepared to leave her small village of fewer than 100 people for Dover, which had a population of around 4,000. Although outgoing and social, Karina was quite dependent on her friends and family. By working in America, she hoped to show her parents that she could stand on her own two feet.
Karina was happy and excited as she farewelled her family at the airport. Just before she boarded the plane, she said: “I hope I’m doing the right thing.”

Please note, Premium episodes will be made available to the general audience on the ad-supported feed at some point, as we don’t want to keep cases permanently behind a paywall. But Premium subscribers will receive them first, months in advance.
