In this extra episode of Hooked on Freddie, Becky Milligan meets Doug Cartlidge who went from being a successful dolphin trainer to a leading anti-dolphinarium campaigner. When Britain was in the grip of dolphin-mania in the sixties and seventies, Doug was right at the heart of it. He had big hair, tight trunks and a bunch of famous friends. But after seeing too many young dolphins die in captivity – and almost losing his own life in a horrifying killer whale attack – Doug switched sides, campaigning to return captive dolphins to the wild.
