What Near Death Experiences Can Teach Us About Living a Life of Meaning and Purpose: An Incredible Life Story with Anita Moorjani #504

What happens when we face death - and return to tell the tale? Today’s guest takes us on an extraordinary journey from advanced cancer to complete recovery, challenging our understanding of both healing and human consciousness. Anita Moorjani is the New York Times best-selling author of Dying to Be Me: My Journey From Cancer, To Near Death, To True Healing and travels the world speaking to sold-out audiences who want to learn about her journey and experiences of embracing change, the power of healing, and the quest to live a full and unlimited life.  Anita’s story is an extraordinary one. After a 4-year battle with cancer, she fell into a coma and was given days to live. As her doctors gathered to revive her, she had a near-death experience (NDE) where she believes she crossed over to the other side and when she regained consciousness, her cancer began to heal. To the amazement of her doctors, she was free of countless tumours and cancer indicators within weeks. In this powerful conversation, Anita explains how living fearlessly, cultivating self-love, and embracing joy became her pathway to healing. We discuss how people-pleasing, lack of self-worth, and suppressing our authentic selves can negatively impact our wellbeing. And, we also explore her wonderful concept of "energy equity" - a practical framework for understanding how our daily choices either nurture our energy or deplete it. As a medical doctor, I found our discussion about the limitations of current medical knowledge particularly fascinating. We explore how cases like Anita's invite us to expand our understanding of healing and human potential. This conversation goes beyond an extraordinary medical case. It offers practical wisdom for anyone seeking to live more authentically and create positive change in their lives. You may be sceptical - something Anita and I talk about - but I urge you to listen with an open mind. This episode challenges our assumptions about healing while offering hope for a more fulfilled life.  Support the podcast and enjoy Ad-Free episodes. How To Heal Your Body, Improve Balance & Move Better At Any Age (The New Science of Foot Health) with Jim Dooner #502

Did you know that the health of your feet impacts your entire body? Or that the shoes you wear daily could be contributing to more widespread pain—from your ankles to your back and beyond? Today's guest on my Feel Better Live More podcast is Jim Dooner, the Head Physiotherapist for The Foot Collective, a global community of health and movement practitioners on a mission to make a much-needed shift in the culture around feet and footwear.  Through their online training resources, in-person workshops, and a range of physical training tools, they aim to empower people on the journey of restoring natural foot function and balance and to make this process as fun and engaging as possible. In this incredible conversation, Jim explains the fascinating 'mismatch' between how our feet evolved and how we treat them in our modern environment. He introduces the concept of 'movement nutrition' - the idea that our feet, like our bodies, require proper nourishment through movement and sensory input, and explains why many of us are severely 'malnourished' in this regard. We explore the 'Five Fs' of footwear - a framework for understanding how our shoes should support rather than hinder natural foot function. Jim shares powerful insights about why conditions like plantar fasciitis, bunions, and chronic pain often stem from poor foot function and how these issues can be addressed through natural movement and proper footwear choices. Jim and I also discuss balance training and play-based movement. He explains how these simple yet profound practices can benefit everyone, from children to older adults, and why they're crucial for healthy ageing. We also delve into the cultural aspects of foot health, examining how fashion and societal norms have shaped our relationship with our feet, often at the expense of our wellbeing.  Throughout our conversation, Jim offers practical advice for anyone looking to improve their foot health, whether dealing with chronic pain or simply wanting to move better. According to Jim, it's never too late to improve foot function, and small changes can significantly improve overall health.  So, if you've ever questioned why we accept foot pain as normal or wondered whether your shoes might be affecting more than just your feet, this conversation offers a profound shift in perspective. Jim’s message is clear - the path to better health could start right beneath your feet. Support the podcast and enjoy Ad-Free episodes. BITESIZE | How to Become Happier Today | Master Shi Heng Yi #501

So much of our happiness seems conditional. “I’ll be happy when...” I get the job, the relationship, the money, or simply a sunny day. But when our wellbeing relies on external, fleeting things, it’s on a shaky foundation. When we tie our sense of happiness and contentment to getting or achieving something externally, it feels constantly out of reach. Feel Better Live More Bitesize is my weekly podcast for your mind, body, and heart. Each week I’ll be featuring inspirational stories and practical tips from some of my former guests. Today’s clip is from episode 426 of the podcast with Master Shi Heng Yi. He belongs to the 35th generation of Shaolin Masters and began practising Kung Fu at the age of four. The Most Powerful Conversation I Have Ever Had: The Secret To Dealing with Any Stressor In Life with Dr Edith Eger #500

Caution: contains themes of an adult nature. This week marks the 500th episode of this podcast! And what a journey it’s been! There have been so many conversations that have had a profound impact upon my life and to celebrate, I thought it would be fitting to share the conversation that has impacted me the most: My conversation with the incredible Dr Edith Eger back on episode 144 fundamentally changed who I am and how I see the world. I was lucky enough to meet Edith, now aged 97, a few weeks ago at an event in San Diego and sit down and have a chat with her. We were able to record our brief conversation, which you can hear at the end of this episode. For those of you who haven’t already heard our initial conversation, Edith is a holocaust survivor who became a psychologist and an expert in the treatment of post-traumatic stress. She is also the author of 3 amazing books, The Choice: Even in Hell Hope Can Flower, The Gift: 12 Lessons to Save Your Life, and most recently, she has released The Ballerina of Auschwitz – a retelling of her story for younger adults from a different perspective. As a Jew living in Eastern Europe under Nazi occupation, Edith was taken to Auschwitz concentration camp with her parents and sister, at the age of 16. In this conversation, she explains how she found her inner resources, how she came to view her guards as the real prisoners, turn hate into pity and, incredibly, she even describes her horrific experience as ‘an opportunity’. Edith not only survived Auschwitz, she freed herself from the trauma of her past by using her mind and the healing powers of forgiveness. For those of you who have already heard this conversation, I would urge you to listen again because each time you listen, you will hear something different – as Heraclitus, the Greek philosopher said, ‘no man ever steps in the same river twice’. This really is a timeless conversation that keeps on giving. Edith’s story is incredible. It is powerful, confronting and, at times, challenging. Above all though, it is deeply inspiring and I cannot think of a better way to celebrate 500 episodes of my podcast – I hope you agree. Support the podcast and enjoy Ad-Free episodes. How To Break Free From Negative Thoughts, Change Your Daily Habits & Unlock Your Full Potential with Dr Bruce Lipton #498

Did you know that around 95% of your behaviours come from your subconscious mind? For most of us, this means living much of our lives on autopilot. But what if I told you that reprogramming this 'hidden' part of your mind is not only possible, it also has the potential to completely transform your life?   This week, I'm thrilled to welcome Dr Bruce Lipton back to my podcast. Dr Lipton began his career as a cell biologist graduating from the University of Virgina, before joining the Department of Anatomy at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine in 1973. Today, he describes his work as bridging science and spirituality and in his bestselling book The Biology of Belief, he sets out the idea that our thoughts affect all the cells in our body.   Many of you really enjoyed my first conversation with Dr Lipton all the way back on Episode 308 of the show, and in this brand-new episode, we continue our deep dive into the fascinating world of the subconscious mind and its profound influence on our daily lives.   During our conversation, we explore four common beliefs that hold many of us back, including the idea that external circumstances control our lives and that our happiness is reliant on the actions of others. We discuss the importance of taking full responsibility for our lives and the value of extending compassion towards ourselves. We also delve into the benefits of living with positive energy, the significance of routines and intentional living and the power of consciousness in shaping our reality, including our perception of ageing.   Dr Lipton is warm, compassionate and honest - and this episode is full of practical wisdom, that I’m certain will empower you to make positive changes, by understanding the incredible power of your mind.   Support the podcast and enjoy Ad-Free episodes.
