Great messenger app, but a lack of control has made it clunky. There is no option to customize appearance or color scheme, or contact customization. Chat backup has become a huge issue for me. There seems to be no option other than to save to GDrive or Ickoud only. This will force you to buy space at one of these, since local save or Onedrive is not available.

very annoying bug has been happening since January where after capturing photo it takes about 20 seconds for the photo to actually load. in that time the camera is still on, this is really annoying and has only been getting worse since the new updates.(7.1.23) edit: in the year since my first review about the bugs, I've had more. messages will randomly delete themselves, send infinite photos, and mark things as falsely read. I've contacted WhatsApp support, switched phones, nothing has changed.

Cannot change devices. Functionally broken. Only sends code to Whatsapp app and not as a text to the phone. Even when I am able to receive the code on the old device I am unable to enter it on the new device because the screen is then unresponsive despite showing the 6 digit placeholders. Clear caches, uninstalled, reinstalled, nothing works. Stuck on a dead phone and now app is dead. Like a virus, can't even clear storage or force close now, just keeps popping up broken code entry screen.

• You can now edit messages up to 15 minutes after sending. Long press a message and choose ‘Edit’ to get started.
• Group chats show the profile photos of their participants.
