Great game with lots to do but the ads suck. There's lot of missions, battles, things to obtain, etc that keep the game really interesting. The game can be played consistently without purchases (which is great for my kids) but buying packs and dragons do help a progress a lot. The one major drawback are the ads. The ads consistently kick us out of the game without credit for watching them even on WiFi. We end up watching several ads, having to log back in over and over, to get one credit.

I've been playing this game for years and have loved it ever since. I have gone as far as unlocking a majority of the legendary dragons, currently working on purple death. This game lacks a few features, though, that could make it a bit better. I believe adding features such as allowing people to add friends and visit each other's islands would be a big plus. Even making it possible to trade dragons among friends and adding more elements like free dragons from trappers.

It's a fun game, if you can ignore the part where it's really just a massive cash grab. It's genuinely fun to play, but you have to be willing to either stand very firm on your policy of "don't spend money" or be willing to spend literal hundreds of dollars for virtual trading card packs. It's a fairly standard "build your city" sim otherwise, plus dragons. Additionally, sometimes when watching an ad to earn a reward, after you watch the ad the game just closes instead of giving the reward.
