About this app

Google Messages is the official Google app for messaging over Rich Communication Services (RCS) with fallback to SMS/MMS. Get more done in your messages with one-tap calendar reminders and emoji replies, and keep your conversations secure with spam protection and end-to-end encryption so that you can focus on connecting with the people and businesses that you care about – no matter what device they use.

Know when friends are typing or when they've read your message, share high-resolution images and videos, easily add people to a group chat and experience an all-round richer messaging experience.

End-to-end encryption secures your eligible communications, so no one (including Google and third parties) can read or view your messages and attachments except the person you're messaging.

If a website is suspicious or unsafe, you'll be warned before clicking any links. You can also block and report potential spammers to help stop unwanted and fraudulent messages.

Share high-resolution videos directly from your Google Photos library.

Keep the conversation going, no matter what device you're on. Enjoy RCS chats with friends on your phone, computer, Android tablet or smart watch with the Messages app.

Access suggested replies, one-tap calendar reminders, link sharing and more without leaving your message. Reply quicker and get more out of your conversations with smart actions.

Suggested responses, GIFs and emojis make conversations faster and more fun. Reply to messages with just a tap and keep the conversation going.

Write a text message when it's convenient for you, then schedule the ideal date and time to send it. Get ahead of well wishes and ensure that your messages arrive at the optimal time with schedule send. App available on Wear OS devices

Changing my review to two stars. This app does the job with SMS (kind of), but group texts have to always be downloaded (even when set to automatic download), and support for RCS chat protocols and sending images gets disabled if you choose not to download the latest version (for people like me who don't want 'Big Brother' Google Gemini watching your texts). The Messenger app should just stay compatible regardless of version changes. That's all I want.

Earlier, it wasn't sending messages out, so I switched to another message app but decided to try this one again to see if issues were fixed. Now it's sending duplicate messages and it repeatedly changes my notification sounds back to default so that every body on my contact list has the same notification sound and this is extremely frustrating. I have health issues, and so I rely on my phone a great deal and need a messaging app that works!!!

Messages sent twice to some contacts. Very annoying issue with no solution. Widely reported on throughout the internet. Hardware providers direct us to the carrier and the carrier direct us back to the hardware providers. Which is it? Whatever it is can someone please fix this. I cannot message people and have conversations when every single one of my texts without fail no matter what settings I change are sent twice.

Hi, Sami. Can you try to uninstall and reinstall the Messages app itself? Open the Play Store app > search Messages app > Uninstall > Reinstall/Update. If this doesn't help, please visit our Community Forum for any additional assistance: https://goo.gle/2QL888m.
