As we continue the introductions of our remarkable biochemistry experts, it is our pleasure to present Anna, the Team Leader of our Eukaryotic Cell Laboratory. Anna obtained her PhD in Biological Sciences from Jagiellonian University, where she led several innovative research projects focused on elucidating the dimer formation of GPCR proteins involved in inflammatory and oxidative responses. Since joining Selvita in April 2019, Anna has brought applied her extensive experience in recombinant protein production and cell biology, and has taken a leading role in developing a mammalian cell system dedicated to the supply of recombinant proteins. Notably, she successfully established a platform for generating modified baculoviruses capable of transducing mammalian cells, a crucial advancement for membrane protein production. Currently, Anna leads a team of talented scientists proficient in the production of challenging protein targets within eukaryotic cell systems, encompassing both mammalian and insect platforms. Continuing introductions to our biochemistry experts, next up is Przemysław Golik, PhD (or simply Przemek - though still tricky to pronounce!), our Team Leader and a late bloomer in the climbing world. Przemek produced and crystallized his first protein in the summer of 2009, the same year he began climbing. Since then, his twin passions – structural biology and rock climbing – have grown together, primarily in Poland, where he earned his Ph.D. at Jagiellonian University and climbed his hardest routes. To further sharpen his crystallography skills, he received a scholarship at the Molecular Biology Institute of Barcelona, funded by the NSC Poland Etiuda grant. During this time, he also had the opportunity to climb at some of the world’s most renowned spots, including Siurana and Margalef. Now, Przemek leads a team of skilled protein scientists focused on challenging targets, including IDPs and membrane proteins – the biochemical equivalent of tackling the hardest climbing routes. His expertise in X-ray crystallography ensures top-quality protein production, and his climbing-inspired creativity means he’ll always find an innovative solution to even the toughest problems. Her team conducts crucial analyses, such as analytical method development and validation, phys-chem studies, 5-batch analyses, and certification, ensuring high-quality results and compliance with industry standards. Liliana's extensive experience collaborating with global agrochemistry clients has made her an invaluable leader.
