The icing on the cake of Prince William's latest engagement may have been his insight into Kate Middleton's favorite dessert.

The Prince of Wales, 42, visited Duchy College Stoke Climsland in Cornwall on Oct. 17 to learn more about the college's programs for young people in rural areas, and made the revelation during a stop at a student-run café.

Video shared to the Prince and Princess of Wales' X account show the heir to the throne popping into Sam's Cafe and chatting with people behind the counter — where desserts were a discussion.

According to Hello!, Chef Darren Watson said he learned from his research that Princess Kate's favorite sweet treat is sticky toffee pudding, which Prince William verified and said, "Very good."

Kate's favorite dessert is a timeless classic—a traditional British treat that can be relatively easy to make.

Watson studied up on the royal family's favorite desserts before the prince's visit, and presented him with a refrigerated breakfast cake, reportedly a favorite of both William and his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth.

After accepting the cake, Prince William said, "Thank you very much, that's very sweet of you, any kind of sweet thing I will take, I'm a sucker for anything chocolate and anything sweet."

Hello! reports that the cake was the same recipe as the one served at William and Kate's wedding in 2011. It's a little-known fact that the couple had two cakes served at their royal wedding — an eight-tier fruit cake that was so large that a door had to be removed in order to fit it into Buckingham Palace's Picture Gallery, and a chocolate biscuit cake which was a childhood favorite of William's.

Much has been made of what members of the British royals like to eat, and Prince William occasionally takes home treats for his family from official royal outings. During a work trip to the Isles of Scilly in May, the Prince of Wales reportedly picked up five Cornish pastries—just enough for himself, Princess Kate, and their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6. William recently shared that he never returns home empty-handed.

"Oh, that's very kind. Never go home empty handed! That's a crucial motto of being a parent," he said in a video shared by The Independent.

"That's really kind of you. Thank you very much. We'll do some practice together. See how many windows I can smash!" he added with a laugh.
