Kelly Ripa Gets Real About Road Trip with Husband Mark Consuelos: 'Pretending We Love' It

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are hitting the open road! 

The married Live with Kelly and Mark hosts, both 53, headed out on a road trip on Sunday, July 14, per Ripa’s Instagram Stories. During their journey, both seemed unamused with their slow car ride as Ripa documented their struggles for her followers to see. 

In the first snap, Ripa offers a slight smile as she sits in the passenger seat next to her husband, who is focused on the road. 

“The sun finally came out,” she writes in white text over the shot, tagging Consuelos. The couple appear to be passing by a green area filled with lush trees in the background. 

While Ripa smiles even bigger in the next snap, her husband’s neutral expression remains. “Pretending we love a road trip,” she captions the photo. 

The pair then seemed to hit some heavy traffic during their drive. “Oh lord,” Ripa added over a shot of cars lined up in front of theirs and in the lane next to them. 

At one point, the sun got to be too overwhelming for the mom of three — she shares daughter Lola, 23, and sons Michael, 27, and Joaquin, 21, with Consuelos — so she put on some sunglasses and a sun hat. 

“Of course now it’s sunny,” she wrote alongside a snap with a displeased expression.

This is not the first time the Live Wire author has shared a glimpse of her travel experiences. 

During a July 2 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa recalled an unexpected interaction she had with airport security on her way back from her trip to Switzerland with Consuelos to visit Lola.

Ripa began her story by explaining that she always wears the same outfit to the airport to avoid triggering any detectors.

“And yet, in Switzerland I got beeped,” she said. “Then I had to remove my shoes, and I was like, ‘Why? They’re sneakers.’ But anyway, shoes off, beeped again. They wanded me, nothing beeped.” 

With a cheeky smile, she added, “I got frisked.” 

The Riverdale alum then jokingly chimed in: “I said check her again! Take her backstage.”

Both Ripa and Consuelos shared some stunning shots from their Swiss getaway on Instagram. The pair went to see their daughter Lola — who is living in London and has a British boyfriend — while she was visiting Geneva. 

"Hats off to the people in Switzerland," Consuelos praised the country during a July 1 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark after their trip. "We were only in one city, but it's the cleanest. It's so clean."
