Kaia Gerber Recreates One of Mom Cindy Crawford’s Most Iconic ‘90s Dresses at TIFF — See the Uncanny Side by Side!

Kaia Gerber is paying tribute to her mom Cindy Crawford in a major way.

The 23-year-old model and actress stepped out in a very familiar gown for the Thursday, Sept. 12 Toronto Film Festival premiere of her film Shell. Per Vogue, the white Hervé Leger body-con dress was a recreation of Crawford's memorable look by the same French fashion house at the 1993 Oscars, courtesy of Gerber's stylist Molly Dickinson.

“Kaia had sent me a mood board for TIFF and this was one of her references,” Dickson told the outlet. “I thought it would be amazing to pay tribute to Cindy’s iconic moment.”

Crawford, 58, attended the 1993 Academy Awards alongside actor Richard Gere, to whom she was married at the time. As the supermodel did on the red carpet, Gerber paired the gown, crafted with Hervé Leger's signature bandage material, with white pointed-toe heels. According to Vogue, she also accessorized with vintage diamond jewelry and a vintage Omega watch from her mom's personal collection.

Dickinson, whose other clients include stars like Sydney Sweeney, Sadie Sink and Bella Hadid, shared the inspiration behind Gerber's look on Instagram Stories. "Just wait for it guys..." she wrote over a photo of Crawford at the 1993 Oscars.

On the next slide, Dickinson shared a photo of Gerber in the Hervé Leger recreation.

Gerber has been opting for archival fashion more and more lately. At the TIFF premiere of Saturday Night on Tuesday, Sept. 10, the star donned a vintage Donna Karan gown from 2003, per W magazine. The daring ensemble featured a plunging neckline and open back.

This year has been chock-full of show-stopping fashion moments for Gerber. While in Paris for the Summer Olympics, she and her supermodel mom wore coordinating LBDs for the opening night of Omega House Paris 2024.

At the Met Gala in May, the model-actress stunned in a strapless, floor-length Prada gown that featured oversized sequins. Notably, her voluminous hairdo was reminiscent of Crawford's signature look in the '90s. 

Gerber made her debut at the fashion event a year prior in a black strapless gown with appliqués at the bust and structured skirt that she said was an homage to Bianca Jagger.
