King Charles and Princess Charlotte are coordinating in an unexpected way this summer.

When the King, 75, gave a wave after departing the State Opening of Parliament with Queen Camilla on July 17 (which coincided with her 77th birthday), he was wearing a string bracelet on his right wrist. The British monarch has recently been sporting the red and yellow twisted strand accessory, which looks like the ones his 9-year-old granddaughter Princess Charlotte wore this weekend.

On July 14, the little princess joined her mom, Kate Middleton, and aunt Pippa Middleton for a girls' day out at Wimbledon, where they watched the men's singles final from the front row of the Royal Box. Princess Charlotte stood, clapped and adjusted her sunglasses throughout the tennis tournament, revealing that she accessorized with two string bracelets on her right wrist.

While they don't exactly match with her grandfather's — Charlotte's bracelets were pale pink and blue — it's notable that the royals started wearing them around the same time.

King Charles' bracelet was first visible when he traveled to Wales with Queen Camilla on July 11, and waved on his way into the Senedd, making the trip to commemorate Welsh Parliament's 25th anniversary of devolution from the U.K.

The sovereign was pictured in it again throughout a two-day stay in the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey on July 15 and 16.

The King previously paid subtle tribute to his grandchildren through style, and the Daily Mail reported that the pink and blue dinosaur tie in his royal wardrobe is "thought to have been a Christmas gift from one of his grandchildren."

The monarch first sported the accessory to church in January 2023 and wore it again for his return to public-facing work in late April following the palace announcement of his cancer diagnosis in February.

String bracelets have long been a must-have for summer and became associated with Taylor Swift after the music superstar included a line about friendship bracelets in the lyrics of a song on her 2022 album Midnights. Friendship bracelets have had an explosive pop culture moment amid Swift's global Eras Tour, which Prince William attended with his two eldest kids, Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, in London on June 21, his 42nd birthday.

The royals met Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, behind the scenes of the show at Wembley Stadium, snapping rare selfies together. Princess Charlotte looked especially joyful in the photo that the Prince and Princess of Wales posted to their official Instagram account.

Princess Charlotte and Prince William were also seen dancing with abandon in a private box during the concert as Swift performed her song "Shake It Off." Princess Kate, 42, and Prince Louis, 6, didn't join the night out, as the Princess of Wales has maintained a low profile while continuing treatment for cancer.

Princess Kate's day out at Wimbledon with her daughter and sister was her only second public appearance this year amid her treatment, and a palace insider says that the warm welcome she received there will have been fulfilling.
