Ben Affleck Spotted Wearing Wedding Ring amid Rumored Marriage Tension with Jennifer Lopez

Ben Affleck was spotted wearing his wedding ring on Sunday, May 19, amid ongoing rumors of tension in his marriage with Jennifer Lopez. 

The actor, 51, was photographed solo in his car wearing a plaid shirt — with the ring on his left hand above the steering wheel — in Los Angeles.

Affleck and Lopez, 54, were seen together for the first time in 47 days on May 16 at an event to support their children. The two arrived separately, but were both seen wearing their wedding rings as they left together, according to a source. 

The same day, Lopez "liked" an Instagram post, which details personality traits that keep people from building healthy relationships, shared by relationship coach Lenna Marsak.

Since then, multiple sources have told PEOPLE that Affleck and Lopez are living separately while both are in Los Angeles. A source close to Lopez said that Affleck has not been staying at the couple’s Los Angeles home, instead opting to stay at one of their other properties as he films The Accountant 2.

A separate source told PEOPLE that the couple “did not celebrate Mother’s Day together.”

The “Waiting for Tonight” singer and Affleck first dated from 2002 to 2004 after meeting on the set of their movie Gigli. The two rekindled their romance in 2021 and married the following year.

While separated, Lopez was wed to Marc Anthony, with whom she shares two twin children with, Max and Emme, both 16. Meanwhile, Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner and the two share three children, Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12. 

In 2022, Lopez opened up about her breakup with Affleck while speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, saying it was "so painful."

"Once we called off that wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life. I honestly felt like I was going to die," Lopez said. "It sent me on a spiral for the next 18 years where I just couldn't get it right. But now, 20 years later, it does have a happy ending. It has the most would-never-happen-in-Hollywood ending."

She continued to speak about her latest album This is Me...Now and called Affleck her “biggest fan.”

The Batman actor appeared in Lopez’ documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told, released in February on Prime Video, and spoke of their new relationship. Affleck referred to himself and Lopez as “two people with different kinds of approaches trying to learn to compromise.”
