Granite United Way Announces New Board Chair

Nannu Nobis, PE, founder and CEO of Nobis Engineering has stepped into the position of Board Chair.

From Granite United Way: Granite United Way is pleased to announce that Nannu Nobis, PE, founder and CEO of Nobis Engineering, has graciously stepped into the position of Board Chair. This month, Dean Christon, Executive Director of New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority, passed the torch to Nobis after completing his service as chair since 2016.

“I am humbled to have been elected to the position of Granite United Way Board Chair,” said Nobis. “There is a tremendous amount of work that has been done by our Board of Directors, the staff and volunteers, but we know there is much more we are striving to accomplish. I look forward to working with the staff, our Board and our tireless volunteers and partners statewide to improve conditions in our local communities and across our entire state.”

Mr. Nannu Nobis, PE, founded Nobis Engineering, Inc., an employee-owned company, in 1988. Nobis Engineering was listed on the Zweig Letter Hot Firm List for 2011 (ranked 21st), which recognizes high-performing architecture and engineering firms in the U.S. and Canada, for its tremendous growth under Nobis’ leadership. The Concord-based consulting and design engineering firm has offices in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Maryland.

Nannu came to the United States in 1978 from his native India with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India. He earned his Masters of Science in Geotechnical Engineering in 1979 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor then went on to complete several executive management programs at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Nobis has served as Board Member for Granite United Way since 2010. He is also Chair of the Board of the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce and a Director of the American Council of Engineering Companies of New Hampshire.

Nobis was recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration as the 2012 New Hampshire Small Business Person of the Year.

“We are fortunate to have Nannu Nobis leading our Board of Directors,” said Patrick Tufts, President and CEO of Granite United Way. “Nannu has been a Loyal Contributor and Leadership donor to Granite United Way. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to collaborating with community leaders across all sectors will undoubtedly result in positive change in our community. I am honored to work with Nannu on the goals our Board has set forth.”

Nobis is a resident of Bow, New Hampshire.

Christon continues on the Board of Directors as Immediate Past Chair. First Vice Chair is Sean Owen, owner of wedu and Talient Action Group, who will assume the role of Chair in 2018. Second Vice Chair is Heather Staples Lavoie, Chief Strategy Officer for Geneia, who will become Chair in 2019.
